January 2016
Dear Neighbor,

It's hard to believe we're already a month in to the New Year, but February is almost here. It's traditionally a time when the Governor lays out his bold vision for the state's future in the coming year. I invite you to join me and tune in at noon today (Wednesday, January 27th) when Governor Rauner presents his  State of the State address .

You can hear the Governor's vision for Illinois and formulate your own opinion on what he has to say. I am hoping that his long term plans focus on education, families and health care. Suffice to say, he and all four legislative leaders need to get on the same page.

After the speech, w e encourage you to share your thoughts with us .

The state legislature will also continue working to pass laws that help provide relief and support to medicaid recipients, seniors, families, and businesses.

On a local note, here in the 12th District there are many exciting upcoming events. The Belmont Theatre District is thriving, new restaurants and businesses are opening, and we are ready for a great 2016 Cubs season. (Spring training is right around the corner!)

We would like to remind you that you may need to renew your license plate sticker.  The Secretary of State's office no longer sends license plate sticker renewal notifications by mail. Without that notice, many constituents have called and told us they have gotten tickets.
Failing to renew your sticker could lead to a ticket, and late renewals can lead to fines on top of the charge for a new sticker. I have co-sponsored legislation which would allow for a 30-day grace period to renew stickers without police citation.
Information and guidance on renewing your license plate sticker can be found here.

Additionally, you can register to receive future sticker renewal notifications  via e-mail
