THE FOURTH DAY OF MUHARRAM, On this day, Ubaydullah b. Ziyad ordered the people of Kufa to gather inside the City Mosque and he went upon the pulpit and said: "O people! You have tested Abu Sufyans Clan and found them the way you desired! You know Yazid well that he possesses righteous character, is very kind towards his subjects, his awards are appropriate! similar was the case of his father! Now Yazid had ordered me to increase your stipends and has sent some money near me to distribute among you and to dispatch you to fight a war with his enemy - al-Husain! You must listen to these words from the inner depth of your souls and must obey them." Then he came down from the pulpit, also fixed stipends and rewards for the people of Damascus, and ordered to announce throughout the city that all the people should be ready to move. Then accompanied with his companions, he moved towards Nukhayla and dispatched Husain b. an-Numyar at-Tamimi, Hajjar b. Abjar, Shab'ath b. Rabai, and Shimr b. Dhu'l Jawshan towards Karbala in order to help Omar b. S'ad to fight a war with al-Husain (as) [1]. After Omar b. S'ad left for Karbala, Shimr b. Dhu'l Jawshan was the first person who announced his readiness to fight a war with the Imam (as) with four thousand trained soldiers. Later on, Yazid b. Rakab Kalbi with two thousand troops, Husain b. an-Numayr at-Tamimi with four thousand troops, Mazayar b. Rahina Mazani with three thousand troops and Nasr b. Harsha with two thousand troops - altogether twenty thousand troops announced their readiness respectively [2] [Reference list: 1. Al-Akhbar al-Tawal, p. 254 | 2.
