Census Day is Today
We hope everyone reading this email is safe and healthy as they stay at home, and we thank all people who are on the front lines during this unprecedented time.
In our nearly two years of planning for how we could support our Elgin residents as they started receiving their 2020 Census notices, we could not have imagined what we are all facing today.
Our efforts have been centered on reaching out and bringing in – creating events and encouraging large audiences. That was then. This is now. Things have changed rapidly, but our mission remains the same. The Census is safe…simple….significant – and maybe even more significant as we all see the growing need for federal funding.
Please remember that an accurate count is tremendously important. When federal dollars get distributed to help communities recover, does anyone doubt that the population count determined by the Census will impact the amount of the grant money coming in?
What can you do now?
Please let your friends and neighbors know that you filled out the census whether by posting on social media or calling
What else are we doing locally during this time?
* We are asking everyone who is communicating with parishioners, employees and friends to include the "need to participate" in the 2020 Census message.
* One of our first during this "stay at home"

How is the Elgin Area Doing on Self-Response?
Problem with access to an online computer during this time? Remember to tell people that they can respond to the Census by phone. They can answer in English and 12 additional languages and TDD.
Thank you press for covering this effort.
