Message from Coach Davis
Hope everyone is excited for the start of the season. Monday is the official start of the season. Before we start on Monday I want to share some updates and reminders:

Big Picture Items:
  • In an effort to insure the safety of the athletes and parents, there will be NO SPECTATORS ALLOWED AT GAMES. The decision will be reviewed as the season progresses. With that confirmed, we will need volunteers to be the livestream video person at all three levels (home and away) – 9th grade, JV, and varsity. I only had one person email me after Monday’s meeting and that was for the varsity games so we’re set there. We will supply the equipment if necessary but I want all three levels to be broadcast and it will give one parent an opportunity to be at the game.
  • If your athlete has symptoms or is not feeling well, KEEP HIM OR HER AT HOME.
  • We also are not allowing spectators at practice. Thank you for honoring this during the January and February trainings.
  • It is a challenge for me to handle questions and solve issues with over 100 players in the program. We have a coach assigned to be the contact person for each grade level. If they are not able to answer the question or resolve the issue, they will let me know.
  • Freshmen: Coach Smart rsmart@tahomasd.us
  • Sophomores: Coach Smith csmith@tahomasd.us
  • Juniors: Coach Chapman rchapman@tahomasd.us
  • Seniors: Coach Davis tdavis@tahomasd.us
  • MASKS ARE REQUIRED FOR ALL PLAYERS DURING PRACTICE, AS THEY ARRIVE, AND AS THEY LEAVE. If players will not wear the masks in the correct manner after being warned, we will be sending them home. Coach Bodwell will be our “Covid Coach” and will monitor mask wearing and social distancing, along with our state, league, and district protocols.
  • We have mouth guards for all the players.
  • JV and freshman game schedules will be finalized once all of the schools start practicing next Monday and know how many players they will have available. My goal is a full schedule at each level. JV and freshman games will be scheduled for Mondays – 3/15, 3/22, 3/29, 4/5, and 4/12.

In Order to Participate:
  • Must be cleared on FamilyID. If the player has been participating in the January and February trainings, then they are good to go. We’ve rolled those registration over to this first season
  • Attestations – this process must be done every day by the parent. You should be receiving an email and the email gives you an option to convert you message to a text. MUST BE DONE EVERY DAY.
  • Players will need to bring their ID card for us to scan or a screen shot with that days’ attestation before they are allowed to practice that day.
  • Our ability to continue Covid free practices relies on the integrity of the people who complete the attestations. Please help us do whatever we can to assure a full season for our players.

Practice Items:
  • In order to participate in their first game, the players must participate in 10 days of practice. The first three days for each athlete are in shorts, jersey, and helmets only.
  • If a player has not picked up their equipment yet, we will have a makeup equipment fitting tomorrow (Saturday 2/27) from 10:00-noon. If a player can’t make that, we will have to take care of them after Monday’s practice.
  • We are now starting official practices so we will be on the field every weekday and some Saturdays. Practice schedule is on the football website, tahomafootball.com
  • We will not have access to the locker rooms so the players will need to take their gear home each evening and arrive with it on.
  • Structure of the afternoon changes now that we’re officially starting the season. We share the stadium and upper field with the girls soccer team so we get on the field late.
  • 3:30-4:30 – Meetings on the field or in the bleachers. Once we have access to the building we’ll have meetings inside. Dress warm.
  • 4:30-6:45 - On the field for practice.
  • March 8th, 9th and 10th soccer will be conducting tryouts and we won’t get on the field for practice until 5:00 ending at 7:15
  • Saturday, March 6th we will have two practices, meetings, take our team pictures, and serve the players lunch (provided by our booster group). If your player has allergies, specific dietary needs or is a picky eater please send them with their own lunch. Players will spend the day at school. Schedule for the day:
  • Meetings and first practice – 10:00
  • Lunch provided by boosters – 1:30
  • Team pictures – 2:00
  • Meetings and second practice – 3:00-6:45

MVTB 2020/2021 Fundraising Information

The MVTB’s are so excited to get back to the work we love….
supporting THS FOOTBALL!

Jersey Mikes BOGO cards! The cards look a little different this year. Here are the details you need to know:

*The card is $25 and 100% of the proceeds go to MVTB to support our players, coaches and managers.

*This year they are punch card style and have 25 punches. Each punch is good for one BOGO free regular sub which is over a $250 value.

*The card can be used as many times as you want in one transaction until the 25 punches are used up!

*Cards are good at Maple Valley, Covington and Enumclaw Stores

*No Expiration Date
*We only have a limited number of cards to sell and Cross-Country Boosters is also selling the same cards so the quicker we get ours sold the better.

*Cash or check payment (paid to MVTB) needs to be collected and brought to any February practice to be turned into a board member in exchange for the cards. You can find a board Member in the stadium parking lot as you come into the student entrance. In addition, we will set up a couple of other times you can meet to exchange payment for cards. Players can also exchange payment for cards at practice.  If you decide to accept Venmo/Xelle or other transfer payments from your friends or family and want to pay with your debit or credit card for their card(s), we can do that BUT there will be a $1.00 charge per card purchased to cover the processing fee. So, if you use a debit or credit card to buy 7 cards there will be an additional $7 in fees.

We also have set up a Direct Donation Link for those family members or friends who would love to support their player but maybe do not live nearby or cannot take advantage of the Jersey Mike Card. We are a Nonprofit 501C(3) and all donations are tax deductible!

Direct Donation Checks or Cash can be given directly to a Board Member or checks mailed to:

MVTB (Make checks payable to MVTB)
PO BOX 153
Maple Valley WA 98038

Boosters will be awarding Amazon Gift Cards to the top 10 players or managers who raise the most funds in Card Sales and/or Direct Donations (total money brought in). Totals will be tracked through February and prizes awarded the first week of practice in March.

1st Place=$150 Gift Card
2nd Place=$100 Gift Card
3rd place=$50 Gift Card
4th-10th place $25 Gift Card

While the season may be shorter, most of the expenses still stay the same. The Boosters were proud to provide the new practice jerseys and shorts the boys got this season, as well as providing helmet shields for all players this season. Please help us give THS Football a memorable season! #OneTownOneTeam
