Today is the Last Day...

Today is the last day of our fiscal year. Since July 1, 2022, the Cinema Arts Centre has:

  • Presented 93 first-run features, each with multiple daily screenings, all priced only $7 for members, $6 for member matinees, and FREE for Patron, Director’s Circle, and Cinema Friend Members

  • Presented 394 special events, all at a discount for members, with 251 special events made available for FREE to Patron, Director’s Circle, and Cinema Friend Members

  • Gave away 127 gallons of coffee on Member Appreciation Mondays

  • Sold 1,677 pounds of our famous organic popcorn

  • Gave away 253 pounds of organic popcorn to Patron, Director’s Circle and Cinema Friend members

  • Hosted over 20 film directors in person with audience Q&As

  • Presented over 50 live music performances, lectures, art exhibits, author events, and other cultural events beyond movies

  • Gave away nearly 100 FREE for TEEN Memberships to local teenagers, available to anyone 18 or under at our Box Office

  • Served nearly 3,000 youths through programs like Film Arts in Education, Cinema for Kids, and the Huntington High School Film Festival

  • Had a total economic impact of nearly $4,000,000 in our local area as a result of our programs and activities, our role as a local employer, our promotion of local businesses, our patronage of local venders whenever possible, and the number of visitors we attract to our area (source: Americans for the Arts “Arts & Economic Prosperity Calculator”)

Year after year, our annual audits demonstrate that the Cinema spends the large majority of its funds on direct program expenses, and the smallest portion of funds on all administration, overhead, and fundraising. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic and through to this day, the Cinema has cut its expenses as much as possible while delivering more programs and more community benefit than ever.

We raise funds to support our activities and events in a variety of ways, including ticket sales, café sales, rentals, advertising, grants, individual contributions, and membership.

If you appreciate having an independent community cinema here in Huntington, a wonderful way to demonstrate that is to be a member at the highest level that is right for you. Our Spring Membership Sale ends on June 30th. In addition, on July 1, the first day of our 2023-24 fiscal year, the price of Patron Membership will increase from $525 to $700 and the price of Director's Circle Membership will increase from $1,000 to $1,300. Today is a great day to renew or upgrade your membership. Those new to or upgrading to Patron, Director's Circle, or Cinema Friend Membership before the end of the day will also receive an additional 3 months of membership - 15 months for the price of 12.

Your membership will help us to end our fiscal year on the strongest note possible, and begin our new fiscal year with the resources to continue to deliver cultural, social, educational, and economic benefits to our community. We still must raise $40,000 in Membership Revenue by midnight tonight. If 4% of the people who receive this email join, renew, or upgrade their membership, we will make our goal!

THANK YOU!

HOPE IS AN ACT OF DEFIANCE. DEFY WITH US.

Crossing Party Lines (CPL) wants to hear your story of how you (or someone you know) chose / choose hope in your own life. Maybe you made a friend out of a bully, maybe your dad chose to be accountable when there was an easy way out for him to play the blame-game, maybe your mother spoke up for a neighbor who looked different than everyone else in the community, or maybe your friend reached out to you when things were too fraught between you.

Let's celebrate the unsung choices and acts of hope in everyday life made by ordinary people.

Interested? Email us at VMT@CrossingPartyLines.com with the subject “CHOOSE HOPE” and we will send you recording instructions and/or help you craft your story. .

Look inside you and around you for goodness. Choose Hope. Share Hope. Be Hope.
