The Paul Quinn College men’s basketball championship team will be honored by Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson at Dallas City Hall, receiving a proclamation and additional recognitions by Dallas City Council Member Tennell Atkins and other elected officials tomorrow morning during the Council Briefing in the Council Chambers for their National Championship win during the school’s 150th anniversary year.

A wife and mother, Shannon Powell Hart enjoyed stints as Communications Lead at Infosys Knowledge Institute, SPH Media, Texas Ale Project, WFAA-TV, KXAN-TV, Junior League of Austin and WAVY-TV.  Shannon received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Radio, Television, and Digital Communication from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and MBA in Marketing from LSU Shreveport.  She also attended Hendrix College. Shannon is a longtime journalist and member of the National Association of Black Journalists. A community servant, Shannon cares and gives of herself, her time and her resources.

Dallas County Reports 299 New Positive 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Cases and 1 Death
DALLAS -- As of 12:00 pm April 19, 2022 Dallas County Health and Human Services is reporting 299 additional positive cases of 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Dallas County, 192 confirmed cases and 107 probable cases. There is a cumulative total of 480,765 confirmed cases (PCR test). There is a cumulative total of 105,844 probable cases (antigen test). Today’s report includes 47 newly reported cases of COVID-19 within 14 days of specimen collection date. A total of 6,369 Dallas County residents have lost their lives due to COVID-19 illness.

Behind Jalen Brunson’s career high 41 points, the Dallas Mavericks evened their playoff series with the Utah Jazz with a 110-104 victory on Monday night at American Airlines Center. The win guaranteed at least one more playoff game in Dallas. The Mavs and Jazz are now tied 1-1 as the best-of-7 first round playoff series shifts to Utah for Games 3 and 4. Game 3 will be played on Thursday, April 21 at 9 p.m. CST on NBA-TV and Saturday, April 23 at 4:30 p.m. on TNT.
