The month of June is designated as Pride Month. Parades filled with colorful floats, water towers lit up displaying the Pride Month colors, flags flowing in the wind at city halls and rainbow emblems displayed on TV stations and movie screens demonstrate America's support of the LGBTq community and to encourage them to celebrate who they are.
Because of our nation's desire during the month of June to encourage the LGBTQ community to celebrate who they are, I have to ask myself: Am I just as proud to be a Christian? Am I willing to boldly parade my lifestyle before others? Am I willing to stand up for my beliefs, without reservation?
Because of the intense persecution Christians were experiencing in Rome, the apostle Paul could have chosen not to preach the gospel when he arrived. Instead, he made the decision that no matter what happened to him, he would still share the gospel message, because of the message of salvation the gospel offered.
Today, there is still salvation in the gospel message. But if you have been ashamed to share it with others because you are afraid of what others may say or do, decide today it is time to join with the LGBTQ community and proudly celebrate who you are too - a child of the one who holds the key to change the world!
Sharing the Word,
Jeaninne
Father, I'm so thankful I am a Christian and how your Word is helping me live the Christian life. Help me to never be ashamed to share who I am with others to help them live the Christian life too. Amen.
