USING YOUR SIMPLE EQUIPMENT

I can't go in these," he protested. "I'm not used to them."

I Samuel 17:38b, NLT

In the story of David and Goliath, we learn a valuable lesson about facing our challenges. When David prepared to fight the giant Goliath, King Saul offered him his armor. However, David quickly realized that he couldn’t move comfortably in it. Instead, he chose to use what he was familiar with: his shepherd’s staff, slingshot, and some stones.

Often, we think we need extraordinary materials to slay the giants we encounter in our lives. But David’s example demonstrates that God uses simple, ordinary materials to help us deal with our great problems. God used a staff to help Moses deliver the Israelites from Egypt, a horn to help Joshua flatten the walls of Jericho, and a small stone to help David defeat Goliath.

Your faith in an unseen God, your daily and consistent prayers, and your belief in the power of God’s Word to change lives—these may seem simple to others, but in God’s eyes, they are mighty instruments designed to help you conquer your giants.

So, if someone is encouraging you to fight your battles with tools that don’t feel right, remember to use the ones God has designed just for you to face your giants with confidence.

Sharing the Word,

Jeaninne

Today's Prayer:

Thank you, heavenly Father, for the mighty instruments you have bestowed upon me as your child. I am grateful for the faith, wisdom, and courage you provide, which empower me to conquer any giants I face today. Amen.
