FHF Pageant & Auction is Saturday at the ECMS Auditorium

The annual Friends Helping Friends Pageant and Auction is Saturday and the Friends are getting a little help from their Super Friend Mecole Hardman.

 

The pageant will begin at 4:45 p.m. on Saturday at the Elbert County Middle School Auditorium with the auction immediately following (approximately 6:30 p.m.). Donations will be accepted but are not required. Those who do choose to make a donation will have the opportunity to have photos made with Mecole after the pageant and auction.

 

Auction items include Mecole Hardman Kansas City Chief helmets and mini helmets, Kansas City Chiefs Jerseys, posters and banners. Team memorabilia from other players could be available as well.

 

All proceeds help provide inclusive educational opportunities such as school trips, summer camps, school supplies, sensory motor development equipment, extra special events, scholarships and more for Elbert County students at all five schools and Advantage Friends at no cost to the school system or to the students served.

Sinners & Saints Car Show set for Sunday

Elberton First United Methodist Church is hosting a car show called Sinners & Saints Car Show to raise funds for HOPE (Helping Overcome Poverty in Elbert County).


The show will start at 8:30 a.m. with a service featuring a message from Pastor Jim McCollough. The car show will continue into the afternoon with food (including a hot dog lunch), music, dancing and more.


Vehicles of all types are welcome, including bikes, trucks, etc. There is no fee to attend or to show vehicles, however donations will be accepted. All funds will go to support HOPE.

Kid's fishing derby to be held Saturday at Lake Russell

news@wsgcradio.com - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Richard B. Russell Project Office is hosting the 33nd Annual Kid’s Fishing Derby Saturday at the Calhoun Falls Bank Fishing area, located on Hwy. 72 in Calhoun Falls, South Carolina.

 

Youth, ages 5-15, may register to participate but those wishing to participate should register now as the event is limited to the first 100 participants to register.

 

Check-in is from 7-8 a.m. and fishing hours are from 8-11 a.m. A water safety program will follow along with prizes and a free lunch.

Parents and guardians can fish outside the net during the fishing derby with a Georgia or South Carolina fishing license. Youth 15 and younger do not need a fishing license.

 

Attendees should plan to bring their own chair, fishing gear and sunscreen. Life jackets are highly recommended for children and weak swimmers who will be near the water.
