ECCHS names February Students of the Month

[email protected] – Elbert County Comprehensive High School has named the following students as Students of the Month for February 2024:

 

Zoey Rucker is being recognized as the Academic Student of the Month for February by the English/Language Arts Department. Her teacher, Deb Peavler, says, “Zoey has been such a joy to get to know these first few weeks of the semester. She is always engaged and does a great job in my class! Zoey always comes in with a smile and is ready to learn. I look forward to the rest of the semester with Zoey and seeing all the great things she will accomplish.” Zoey is the daughter of Jessica Veal and Tyrome Rucker. 

 

Ariona Boleman is being recognized as the Academic Student of the Month for February by the Foreign Language Department. Her teacher, Valeriya Anderson, says, “Ariona is always prepared to work hard on every assignment. She is a very enthusiastic learner and a role model for her peers. Ariona is always ready to help anyone because of her exceptional work ethics and sweet personality. Ariona is the daughter of Matthew Boleman and Christa Boleman.


Adelyn Evans is being recognized as the Academic Student of the Month for February by the Math Department. Her teacher, Charmin Sexton, says, “Addy is an outstanding student for her quick understanding in Precalculus and her willingness to ask questions when needed for clarity. Her attention to detail and organization is excellent. She always has a positive and pleasant attitude in class.” Addy is the daughter of Bruce and Chrissy Evans.


Zytravious Tate is being recognized as the Academic Student of the Month for February by the Science Department. His teacher, Julie Hover, says, “Zytravious is a very focused and bright young man. He currently has a 100 in Chemistry, which is a direct result of his hard work during class and his ability to learn difficult concepts.” Zytravious is the son of Shante Glaze.


Latayron Williams is being recognized as the Academic Student of the Month for February by the Social Studies Department. His teacher, Dr. Edna Eberhardt, says, “Latayron demonstrates excellent behavior inside and outside the classroom. He is well-mannered, and respectful to his peers and teachers. He displays excellent citizenship by his willingness to participate in class discussions, and he demonstrates leadership in his integrity.” Latyaron is the son of Latona Williams and Jajuan Jenkins.


Wyatt Stelter is being recognized as the Cadet of the month for JROTC. SFC Daniel Ulrich says, “SSG Wyatt Stelter demonstrates exceptional leadership and commendable performance as a Cadet in the JROTC program. With prowess on the Rifle team, adept leadership during Physical Training, and mentorship in class, Stelter goes above and beyond. His willingness to assist peers with map reading and first aid, even without solicitation, showcases his proactive approach to problem-solving and dedication to improvement.” Wyatt is the son of Ryan and Tanya Stelter.


Marley Geyer is being recognized by Coach Peavler as the PE Student of the month for February. Coach Peavler says, “Marley has been a joy to have in class, and did an excellent job on her Body Systems Project last week. Great job, Marley! Keep it up.” She is the granddaughter of 

Peggy and Mark LeFevre.


Haven Adams is being recognized as the Student of the Month for February by the CTAE department in audio and film. Haven’s teacher, Leslie Johnson, says, “Haven is always polite, respectful, and willing to do anything asked of him. He's helpful to fellow students and always puts forth his best effort on all of his assignments. He's always happy and kind to all.” Haven is the son of Laci and Patrick Adams.

KECB to hold recycling event in Bowman on Saturday

[email protected] - Keep Elbert County Beautiful (KECB), an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful, is hosting a recycling event this Saturday, March 9, from 8 a.m.-noon at the Bowman Recycling Center located at 22 N. Segars St. in Bowman.

 

Items that can be accepted include car batteries and rechargeable batteries; electronics such as microwaves, computers, radios, fans, printers, appliances and water heaters; TVs and computer monitors ($3 fee for small/$5 fee for larger); Canon or HP ink cartridges; vehicle tires ($4 fee for automobile tires). There is a limit of five tires per vehicle.

 

The recycling center cannot accept paint, chemicals or construction materials.

 

Items such as aluminum cans, cardboard, glass, metal, newspapers/magazines and plastic that are normally accepted are welcome as well.

 

The team from KECB will also help unload vehicles as well.

 

For those needing help with shredding, KECB will have an on-site shredding company at their next recycle event in Elberton in November.

Madame Web is now showing at the Elbert Theatre

[email protected] – Madame Web is showing this week only at the Elbert Theatre.

 

Cassandra Webb is a New York metropolis paramedic who begins to demonstrate signs of clairvoyance. Forced to challenge revelations about her past, she needs to safeguard three young women from a deadly adversary who wants them destroyed.

 

The director is S.J. Clarkson and the writers are Matt Sazama, Burk Sharpless and Claire Parker.

 

The movie stars Dakota Johnson in the lead role along with Sydney Sweeney and Isabela Merced.

 

Showtimes are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday with a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday. Tickets are $7.50 and the box office opens 30 minutes prior to show time.
