Solar eclipse- the first eclipse with a path of totality crossing the Pacific and Atlantic coasts of the US since 1776
It was a warm summer morning. I had been working many Mariner baseball games and I was tired and hoping to spend some backyard time for the first time since June. The green grass had turned yellow and the remaining plants were withered. Deep shadows began to stretch across the patio as the eclipse found its way. The eclipse had passed over the Pacific Ocean and hit land in Oregon and now traveled quickly across the Continental United States. A message appeared at the top of my cell phone screen. My daughter in law was in labor, her water had broken. My youngest grand was on his way! A feeling of quiet deep awe come through me - the tug of nature, our reliance on the earth and sun and the emergence of new life. I was being reminded of something bigger than summer sports tired feet, and neglected plants. God in HIs majesty was surrounding me. I became quietly calm and felt a deep connection to the miracles of our world. Awe indeed and time to sit quietly and praise all that is Godly and good!
