Opening Words

Shared by Pastor Ken

One: Who are we and what are we called to do?

All: We are the sensitive and responsive ones called to create a world where every person is radically affirmed and barriers between people become

bridges of inclusion, justice, and spirituality.

Call to Worship

Led by Judy Schwiebert

One: Like a pebble in a pond

All: God tosses Shadow Rock into the sea of history.

One: Like a nugget in a puddle

All: God tosses Shadow Rock into the ocean of need.

One: Like a rock jutting out of the middle of a lake

All: God tosses Shadow Rock into chaotic waters to add

ripples of a new order of peace, justice and love.

One: Like ripples on a pond, so we are a part of the ever

expanding circle of care and justice for the sake of the

world.

All: Let us celebrate Life!

Singing Our Faith ~ Come, Sweet Justice

Centering Moment ~ Meditation for a Beautiful Day

Shared by Judy Schwiebert Written by Sara Campbell

Ah, how beautiful is this day.

How crisp and clean the air.

How clear the sky.

How full of life the teeming earth.

And we are alive!

Yes, we feel the beat of our own hearts,

the pulsing of life in our veins,

the rhythm of our breathing.

We come into the silence of this time with gratitude for this day.

We come also with our needs.

Our gratitude stirs us to praise and sing our thanksgiving.

Our loneliness draws us into the company of others.

Our restlessness draws us into these moments of quiet.

Our longing for the spirit brings us before the mystery of the holy.

Our desire to heal our own wounds and the wounds of our world brings us here to renew our strength and hope.

And we come into this space because we have gifts to share:

words of healing and encouragement for those who are

burdened;

songs of praise and hope;

smiles of comfort and affection;

deeds of love and kindness.

Each of us comes to dip into the well that nourishes our hungry spirits.

Each of us comes with our own cup of goodness to pour into the well.

We drink together.

May we be strengthened in our bonds of love and peace.

Sharing Our Covenant

Shared by Linda Merritt

We covenant one with another to be that sensitive and

responsive part of human society which perceives and

responds to God’s newest thrust in the midst of history. The

uniqueness and greatness of every life is radically affirmed.

Our task together demands a comprehensive view of life,

always pointed intentionally to the future. Our life together

will involve us individually and corporately in study and

worship, always maintaining a proper balance between

proclamation of the Word about life with the deeds which

make life good. Those activities which eliminate age

barriers, cut across religious dogma, reduce cultural

parochialisms and engage secular people with life’s ultimate

possibilities will be worthy of our best efforts.

Invitation to Give ~

Shared by Judy Schwiebert

Let our gratitude for life be expressed in our generosity.

Let our faith be expressed in good causes.

Let our belief in the future find full expression

in our daily attitude of mind.

In our offerings, we share not only measurable treasures of time, talents, and resources, we radically commit ourselves to sharing immeasurable gifts of forgiveness, grace, compassion, acceptance, and loving concern with each other and with ourselves.

In response to our celebrations and the deep goodness of life, our offerings for the celebration of life, in this place and beyond, shall now be received.

The Chime Calls Us to The Word About Life

Word About Life

Our life together will involve us individually and corporately in study and worship.

Words for Mission

Led by Judy Schwiebert

One: May the God who dances in creation,

who embraces us with human love,

who shakes our lives like thunder,

bless us and drive us out with power

to fill the world with her justice.

These are the times!

All: We are the people!

One: All of Creation is blessed.

All: May we love all and serve all.

One: God be with you.

All: And also with you.

One: Amen.

All: Amen.

Sending Forth Song ~ Trees of the Field

You shall go out with joy and be led forth with peace;

The mountains and the hills will break forth before you.

There’ll be shouts of joy, and all the trees of the field

will clap, will clap their hands.

And all the trees of the field will clap their hands, (clap, clap)

The trees of the field will clap their hands, (clap, clap)

The trees of the field will clap their hands (clap, clap)

While you go out with joy.

(Repeat faster)

Sermon Reboot is OFF for today.

This is a time to talk about the message and explore together using the ORID Art Form Conversation methodology. What is ORID? It stands for Observation, Reflection, Interpretation, and Decision. You will get the hang of it.
