Welcome and Announcements

Opening Words

Shared by Pastor Ken

One: Who are we and what are we called to do?

All: We are the sensitive and responsive ones called to create a world where every person is radically affirmed and barriers between people become

bridges of inclusion, justice, and spirituality.

Call to Worship

Led by Sue Stuart

One: Like a pebble in a pond

All: God tosses Shadow Rock into the sea of history.

One: Like a nugget in a puddle

All: God tosses Shadow Rock into the ocean of need

One: Like a rock jutting out of the middle of a lake

All: God tosses Shadow Rock into chaotic waters to add ripples of a new order of peace, justice and love

One: Like ripples on a pond, so we are a part of the ever-expanding circle of care and justice for the sake of the world.

All: Let us celebrate Life!

Singing Our Faith ~ God is Still Speaking

by Marty Haugen

God is still speaking, blessed invitation,

God is still speaking listen and draw near,

God is still speaking, see a new creation,

God is still speaking, stand and do not fear.

All creation groans and yearns

God is still speaking

Seek the way that life returns

listen and draw near

Through our broken, wounded earth

God is still speaking

God can bring new seeds to birth

stand, and do not fear. (Refrain)

To the ones enslaved, oppressed

God is still speaking

God is here in human dress

Listen and draw near

When the poor and lost are found

God is still speaking

When the mighty are cast down

Stand, and do not fear. (Refrain)

In the bleak and hopeless hour

God is still speaking

Love is telling truth to pow’r

Listen and draw near,

Tho’ the nations rage and fight:

God is still speaking,

Hear the Word of breaking light;

Stand, and do not fear(Refrain)

Opening Prayer ~ “God of Unexplored Tomorrows”

Shared by Sue Stuart

God of unexplored tomorrows,

of today and yesterday,

God of rock and flowing river,

be our refuge, be our way.

Guardian rock above, before us,

strong foundation where we build,

landmark through the haze of doubting,

shelter where our fears are stilled,

Be the cleansing, quenching water,

irrigate, disturb and move,

stir us from our easy shallows,

current of refreshing love.

God of rock and flowing river

now and ever with us stand,

to transform our land of promise

into each one's promised land..

Sharing Our Covenant ~ Shared by Linda Merritt

We covenant one with another to be that sensitive and

responsive part of human society which perceives and

responds to God’s newest thrust in the midst of history. The

uniqueness and greatness of every life is radically affirmed. Our task together demands a comprehensive view of life, always pointed intentionally to the future. Our life together will involve us individually and corporately in study and worship, always maintaining a proper balance between proclamation of the Word about life with the deeds which make life good. Those activities which eliminate age barriers, cut across religious dogma, reduce cultural parochialisms and engage secular people with life’s ultimate possibilities will be worthy of our best efforts.

Invitation to Give ~

Shared by Sue Stuart

Let our gratitude for life be expressed in our generosity.

Let our faith be expressed in good causes.

Let our belief in the future find full expression

in our daily attitude of mind.

In our offerings, we share not only measurable treasures of time, talents, and resources, we radically commit ourselves to sharing immeasurable gifts of forgiveness, grace, compassion, acceptance, and loving concern with each other and with ourselves.

In response to our celebrations and the deep goodness of life, our offerings for the celebration of life, in this place and beyond, shall now be received.

Sending Forth Song ~ Saints of God

by James Thiem, O.S.B.

Saints of God, hear the holy Word!

Gather ‘round the table of the Lord!

Celebrate the risen life

and we’ll sing a song of love:

Allelu, allelu, allelu, alleluia!

1. Brothers, sisters, we are one, and our life has just begun,

In the spirit we are one; we can love forever.

Chorus

2. Shout together to the Lord who has promised our reward:

Happiness a hundredfold, and we’ll love forever.

Chorus

3. Make the world a unity, make us all one family

Help us live more hopefully, live in peace together.

Chorus

Sermon Reboot is ON for today.

This is a time to talk about the message and explore together using the ORID Art Form Conversation methodology. What is ORID? It stands for Observation, Reflection, Interpretation, and Decision. You will get the hang of it.
