Welcome and Announcements

Shared by Pastor Ken

We welcome everyone to our service and hope you are blessed by worshipping with us.

Opening Words

Shared by Pastor Ken

One: Who are we and what are we called to do?

All: We are the sensitive and responsive ones called to create a world where every person is radically affirmed, and barriers between people become

bridges of inclusion, justice, and spirituality.

Call to Worship ~ Roy Zaborowski

One: God Loves the field mouse.

All: God loves the crows that take flight when church bells

ring.

One: God loves the baby, cooing in the back pew.

All: God loves the child who rocks and claps.

One: God loves the one with wrinkled hands and soft eyes.

All: God loves the bumblebees and the tabby cats.

One: God loves those who walk, crawl, and roll.

All: God loves the giant oaks, the evergreens, and the

saguaro cactus standing strong over all of us.

One: God loves the young, the impressionable, and the earnest.

All: There is no bit of creation that God does not love.

One: So let us worship this good-news God!

All: Amen.

Singing Our Faith ~ All Are Welcome

Let us build a house where love can dwell

and all can safely live.

A place where saints and children tell

How hearts learn to forgive.

Built of hopes and dreams and visions,

Rock of faith and vault of grace.

Here the love of Christ shall end divisions:

All are welcome, all are welcome, all are welcome in this place.

Let us build a house where all are named,

their songs and visions heard.

And loved and treasured taught and claimed

As words within the Word.

Built of tears and cries and laughter,

Prayers of faith and songs of grace.

Let the house proclaim from floor to rafter:

All are welcome, all are welcome, all are welcome in this place.

Centering Moment ~ Pastor Ken

Invitation to Confession ~ Roy Zaborowski

Shadow Rock Family of Faith,

For the past few weeks we pray a Prayer of Confession,

because every week it helps to be reminded of God’s abundant grace. Every week the wounded parts of us find healing in the reminder of God’s love.

Every week we need to be reminded that we too can grow andchange. So join me in this moment of honesty as we seek transformation. Friends, let us pray:

Prayer of Confession ~ Roy Zoborowski

One: Our wisdom tradition says,

“When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them.”

All: Holy God, we confess, we have mistreated the

immigrants in our land.

One: Jesus said,

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be

called children of God.”

All: We confess, we have clung to guns and war more than

we have pursued peace.

One: Our wisdom tradition says,

“When you gather the grapes of

your vineyard, do not glean what is left; it shall be for the

alien, the orphan, and the widow.”

All: We confess, we have hoarded our resources and failed

to care for our neighbors.

One: Jesus said,

“Let the children come to me, and do not stop

them.”

All: We confess, we have gatekept the good news in unfair

ways.

One: Fortunately for all of us, God also said,

“Do not fear, for I

have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are

mine.”

All: By God’s grace, despite our sin and shortcomings, we

are redeemed, claimed, forgiven, and loved.

One: May this good news change our lives!

All: Amen.

Invitation to Give ~

As we bring our offerings and gifts forward,

may our whole lives move forward,

in good faith,

with good feelings,

and with a good belief about the future.

May all that we give today, be blessed.

And all that we receive enrich our life and the lives of others.

In our offerings, we share not only measurable treasures of time, talents, and resources, we radically commit ourselves to sharing immeasurable gifts of forgiveness, grace, compassion, acceptance, and loving concern with each other and with ourselves.

In response to our celebrations and the deep goodness of life, our offerings for the celebration of life, in this place and beyond, shall now be received.

The Chime Calls Us to The Word About Life

Word About Life ~ Pastor Ken

Deuteronomy 24:17-22

Shared by Pastor Ken

“You shall not deprive a resident alien or an orphan of justice; you shall not take a widow’s garment in pledge. Remember that you

were a slave in Egypt and the Lord your God redeemed you from there; therefore I command you to do this.

“When you reap your harvest in your field and forget a sheaf in the field, you shall not go back to get it; it shall be left for the alien, the orphan, and the widow, so that the Lord your God may bless you in all your undertakings. When you beat your olive trees, do not strip what is left; it shall be for the alien, the orphan, and the widow.

“When you gather the grapes of your vineyard, do not glean

what is left; it shall be for the alien, the orphan, and the widow. Remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt; therefore I am commanding you to do this.”The apostles gathered around Jesus and told him all that they had done and taught. He said to them, “Come away to a deserted place all by yourselves and rest a while.” For many were coming and going, and they had no leisure even to eat. And they went away in the boat to a deserted place by themselves.

Words for Mission

Led by Roy Zoborowski

One: As you leave this place, when you meet anger, speak with love. When you meet fear, speak with hope. When you meet pain, speak with gentleness. But no matter what, speak this good news. The good news of the gospel is love and justice for all. It is joy that surprises, and it is nonviolence that transforms. These are the times!

All: We are the people!

One: All of Creation is blessed.

All: May we love all and serve all.

One: God be with you.

All: And also with you.

One: Amen.

All: Amen.

Sending Forth Song ~ Go Make a Difference

Go make a diff’rence.

We can make a diff’rence. Go make a diff’rence in the world.

Go make a diff’rence.

We can make a diff’rence. Go make a difff’rence in the world.

We are the salt of the earth, called to let the people see the love of God for you and me.

We are the light of the world, not to be hidden but be seen.

Go make a diff’rence in the world. Chorus

We are the hands of Christ, reaching out to those in need, the face of God for all to see.

We are the spirit of hope; we are the voice of peace.

Go make a diff’rence in the world. Chorus

Sermon Reboot is ON for today.

This is a time to talk about the message and explore together using the ORID Art Form Conversation methodology. What is ORID? It stands for Observation, Reflection, Interpretation, and Decision. You will get the hang of it.
