Welcome and Announcements

Shared by Pastor Ken

Opening Words

Led by Pastor Ken

One: Who are we and what are we called to do?

All: We are the sensitive and responsive ones called

to create a world where every person is radically

affirmed and barriers between people become

bridges of inclusion, justice, and spirituality.

Singing Our Faith ~ All Are Welcome

Let us build a house where love can dwell

and all can safely live.

A place where saints and children tell

How hearts learn to forgive.

Built of hopes and dreams and visions,

Rock of faith and vault of grace.

Here the love of Christ shall end divisions:

All are welcome, all are welcome,

All are welcome in this place.

Let us build a house where love is found

in water, wine and wheat.

A banquet hall on holy ground

Where peace and justice meet.

Here the love of God through Jesus is

revealed in time and space.

As we share in Christ the feast that frees us.

All are welcome, all are welcome,

All are welcome in this place.

Let us build a house where hands will reach

beyond the wood and stone.

To heal and strengthen, serve and teach,

And live the Word they’ve known.

Here the outcast and the stranger bear the image

of God’s face.

Let us bring an end to fear and danger.

All are welcome, all are welcome,

All are welcome in this place.

Let us build a house where all are named,

their songs and visions heard.

And loved and treasured taught and claimed

As words within the Word.

Built of tears and cries and laughter,

Prayers of faith and songs of grace.

Let the house proclaim from floor to rafter:

All are welcome, all are welcome,

All are welcome in this place.

Call to Worship

Led by Linda Pape

One: Let there be joy in our coming together this day.

All: Let there be truth heard in the words we speak

and the songs we sing.

One: Let there be help and healing for our disharmony

and despair. Let there be silence for the voice

within us and beyond us. (Moment of Silence)

So let us celebrate the richness and diversity of life.

Singing Our Welcome

~

And loved and treasured taught and claimed

As words within the Word.

Built of tears and cries and laughter,

All are welcome, all are welcome,

All are welcome in this place.

Word About Life ~ I Corinthians 12

Shared by Pastor Ken

Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and

there are varieties of services, but the same Lord; and there

are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who

activates all of them in everyone. To each is given the

manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. To one is

given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to

another the utterance of knowledge according to the same

Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of

healing by the one Spirit, to another the working of miracles,

to another prophecy, to another the discernment of spirits,

to another various kinds of tongues, to another the

interpretation of tongues. All these are activated by one and

the same Spirit, who allots to each one individually just as

the Spirit chooses.

Order of Commissioning for Peggy Hesley

Led by Pastor Ken

Dear Friends and Members of Shadow Rock,

In this celebration of blessing and commissioning for Peggy

Hesley we are reliving a practice of the early church. We

read in the book of Acts that the Spirit of Life and Love

poured itself out onto the people to equip them for the work

of being instruments of peace, healing, reconciliation, and

celebration. Those early spiritual families eagerly lifted

them up, supported them, and sent them out into the world

to give voice to the gifts of life and love.

Today we affirm Peggy Hesley to represent us to serve the

needs of our sisters and brothers. This commissioning and

sending will strengthen the trusteeship we have with our

Covenant to make life good for all people.

The Covenant

Led by Linda Pape

We covenant one with another to be that sensitive and

responsive part of human society which perceives and

responds to God’s newest thrust in the midst of history.

The uniqueness and greatness of every life is radically

affirmed. Our task together demands a comprehensive

view of life, always pointed intentionally to the future.

Our life together will involve us individually and

corporately in study and worship, always maintaining a

proper balance between the proclamation of the Word

about life with the deeds which make life good. Those

activities which eliminate age barriers, cut across

religious dogma, reduce cultural parochialisms and

engage secular people with life’s ultimate possibilities

will be worthy of our best efforts.

Let us pray.

Led by Peggy Hesley

One: Spirit of life and love, share with all of us the

experience of grace.

All: Make us more aware of the tasks you have for

us within this church, and especially within the

world beyond this church.

One: May we also be more aware of the gifts you have

given each of us.

All: May we use these gifts with the strength and

grace to serve all with love, justice,

compassion, inclusivity, healing, and hope.

One: May we celebrate peace within our lives.

All: May we celebrate peace within our lives.

Amen

Special Music ~ It's the Work Of Many Hands

Celebrations and Celebration Song

Led by Pastor Ken

At this time, we share moments from our lives: birthdays,

anniversaries, and words of peace and justice. We celebrate

sorrows and grief as part of our comprehensive view of life.

Give voice to goodness!

Music for Thinking of You Cards

In the pew racks are cards with the title “Thinking Of You”.

Please use these cards to write a note to someone so they

know they are remembered and cared for. Put the card in

the offering plate when it comes by and the church office

will forward the cards to the person addressed in the card.

This was one of the elements of our time together that you

lifted up as important for all of us. Thank you!

Invitation to Give

Led by Linda Pape

God of Love, God of our baptism,

we rejoice to commit ourselves anew with our gifts.

Inspire each person to invest fully in the work set before us.

In response to our celebrations and the deep goodness of life, our offerings for the

celebration of life, in this place and beyond, shall now be

received.

Words For Mission

Led by Judy Schwiebert

One: Let us embrace the wonder of this week with

expectation and imagination. Our time in this

sacred place may have ended, but our connection

to each other and this community remains.

All: Together may we walk the path of justice,

speak words of love, live the selfless deed,

tread gently upon the earth, and fill the world

with compassion.

One: These are the times!

All: We are the people.

One: All of Creation is blessed!

All: May we love all and serve all!

One: May God be with you.

All: And also with you.

One: Amen.

All: Amen.
