Dr. Rev. Patricia StandTal Clarke is on our staff at Shadow Rock UCC as our Minister of Wholeness. She is a medical doctor and an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ. She has a passion for Native Theology, Health and Wellness, Food as Medicine, Plant People, everything aquatic, her three schnauzers, and her beloved wife (Reta Rainwater). Something fun: “I live with three miniature schnauzers who outsmart me daily.”

She is the founder and Executive Director of RedRoad Traditional Medicine. She hopes to contribute a sense of the

diversity amongst us in the SW Conference and move our

conference into greater engagement with the native

people in our conference.

We are grateful to her for her work among us. We welcome Dr. Rev. Patricia StandTal Clarke to the pulpit this morning.

Welcome and Announcements

Shared by Pastor Ken

Opening Words

Led by Pastor Ken

One: Who are we and what are we called to do?

All: We are the sensitive and responsive ones called

to create a world where every person is radically

affirmed and barriers between people become

bridges of inclusion, justice, and spirituality.

Singing Our Faith ~ GardenSong

Inch by inch, row by row,

Gonna make this garden grow,

All it takes is a rake and a hoe

And a piece of fertile ground.

Call to Worship

Led by Chelsea Gaberdiel

One: O God of All Bodies, of those made of flesh and those

made of stars,

All: of those with fins, fur, or feathers, and those of

minerals and weather.

One: O God of All Bounty, of leaves and seas, of space and

sky, we come to you as many.

All: We come as part of you, present and ready.

One: As the inhale rises and the exhale releases, we come as one full breath.

All: With some of us coming up for air for the first time this week, this month, this year.

One: Some of us laying down a weight, a moment, a grief, a

fear.

All: Just as the universe expands and contracts, we gather here with all our comings and goings,

One: to worship the One of Cosmic Circulation and Spirals,

leaving Your mark

All: in galaxies, in fingerprints, in a snail shell siƫng on a billion-year-old rock. Amen.

Opening Prayer

Word About Life ~

Shared by Dr. Rev. Patricia StandTal Clarke

When I am among the trees,

especially the willows and the honey locust,

equally the beech, the oaks and the pines,

they give off such hints of gladness.

I would almost say that they save me, and daily.

I am so distant from the hope of myself,

in which I have goodness, and discernment,

and never hurry through the world

but walk slowly, and bow often.

Around me the trees stir in their leaves

and call out, “Stay awhile.”

The light flows from their branches.

And they call again, “It's simple,” they say,

“and you too have come

into the world to do this, to go easy, to be filled

with light, and to shine.”

Celebrations

Led by Pastor Ken

At this time, we share moments from our lives: birthdays,

anniversaries, and words of peace and justice. We celebrate

sorrows and grief as part of our comprehensive view of life.

Give voice to goodness!

Music for Thinking of You Cards

In the pew racks are cards with the title “Thinking Of You”.

Please use these cards to write a note to someone so they

know they are remembered and cared for. Put the card in

the offering plate when it comes by and the church office

will forward the cards to the person addressed in the card.

This was one of the elements of our time together that you

lifted up as important for all of us. Thank you!

Invitation to Give

Led by Chelsea Gaberdiel

One: Let the world be changed,

All: Let the rules be changed,

One: Let there be a place for everyone.

All: Bring God’s realm near,

One: Let all be welcome here,

All: And may there be for all a just share.

In response to our celebrations and the deep goodness of life, our offerings for the

celebration of life, in this place and beyond, shall now be

received.
