Welcome and Announcements

Opening Words

Led by Pastor Ken

One: Who are we and what are we called to do?

All: We are the sensitive and responsive ones called

to create a world where every person is radically

affirmed and barriers between people become

bridges of inclusion, justice, and spirituality.

Call to Worship

Led by a WISE Team Member

One: May we find courage here— courage to follow our call, courage to live out our faith.

All: May we find hope here— hope for a better world, hope that refuses to let us go.

One: May we find truth here— truth that lives in sacred community, truth that lives in ancient stories.

All: May we find all that we seek. One: And in our seeking and singing, may we know God.

Singing Our Faith

~ Gather Us In

1. Here in this place a new light is streaming,

Now is the darkness vanished away,

See in this space our fears and our dreamings

Brought here to you in the light of this day.

Gather us in, the lost and forsaken,

Gather us in, the blind and the lame.

Call to us now, and we shall awaken;

We shall arise at the sound of our name.

2. We are the young, our lives are a myst’ry,

We are the old who yearn for your face.

We have been sung throughout all of hist’ry,

Called to be light to the whole human race.

Gather us in, the rich and the haughty.

Gather us in, the proud and the strong.

Give us a heart so meek and so lowly;

Give us the courage to enter the song.

3. Not in the dark of buildings confining,

Not in some heaven, light years away,

But there in this place, the new light is shining,

Now is the Kingdom, now is the day.

Gather us in and hold us forever.

Gather us in and make us your own;

Gather us in all peoples together,

Fire of love in our flesh and our bones.

Celebrations and A WISE Team Mission Moment

Led by Pastor Ken

At this time, we share moments from our lives: birthdays,

anniversaries, and words of peace and justice. We celebrate

sorrows and grief as part of our comprehensive view of life.

Give voice to goodness!

You Matter (-Author Unknown)

When everything is going wrong

And you are struggling to carry on,

I want you to know you matter.

When you are feeling the hurt and pain.

And trying your hardest to stay stable

I want you to know you matter.

When you feel you’ve no one to care,

And you are falling into despair,

I want you to know you matter.

I Matter (Adapted by the Shadow Rock UCC WISE Team)

When everything is going wrong

And I am struggling to carry on,

I remember that I matter.

When I am feeling the hurt and pain.

And trying my hardest to stay stable

I remember that I matter.

When I feel I’ve no one to care,

And I am falling into despair,

I remember that I matter.

Celebration Song

~ No Matter Who

Chorus:

No matter who,

No matter what

No matter where you are on the journey of life

You’re welcome, welcome here in this place.

No matter who,

No matter what

No matter where you are on the journey of life,

Accepted, welcomed by God’s grace.

1. For we are family, meant to be

Purposed for eternity

Born in love, from above;

God’s community.

Chorus

2. And in diversity, unity,

Harmony for all to see

Justice and equality;

God’s community.

Chorus

3. Together we will sing, worship bring

Hands and hearts outstretched to all

Jesus praise, hearts a-blaze; listen to God’s call.

Chorus

4. The God who spoke through Christ, speaks to us

Listen to our Savior’s call.

Welcome home, welcome in;

The Table’s set for all.

Chorus

Dedication of Our Offerings

Led by A WISE Team Member

We bring these gifts to God and the world as

an act of our faith, as an act of our power, and

an act of justice believing that only love can

heal and unite. We know God’s work is being

done through us. May these gifts provide for

the work that is being done and for the work

that is yet to be done. Amen

Word About Life For Today

Shared by Pastor Ken

One of the Pharisees asked Jesus to eat with him, and he went into the Pharisee’s house and took his place at the table. And a woman in the city, who was a sinner, having learned that he was eating in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster jar of ointment. She stood behind him at his feet, weeping, and began to bathe his feet with her tears and to dry them with her hair. Then she continued kissing his feet and anointing them with ointment. Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw it, he said to himself, ‘If this man were a prophet, he would have known who and what kind of woman this is who is touching him—that she is a sinner.’ Jesus spoke up and said to him, ‘Simon, I have something to say to you.’ ‘Teacher,’ he replied, ‘speak.’ ‘A certain creditor had two debtors; one owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. When they could not pay, he cancelled the debts for both of them. Now which of them will love him more?’ Simon answered, ‘I suppose the one for whom he cancelled the greater debt.’ And Jesus said to him, ‘You have judged rightly.’ Then turning towards the woman, he said to Simon, ‘Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave me no water for my feet, but she has bathed my feet with her tears and dried them with her hair. You gave me no kiss, but from the time I came in she has not stopped kissing my feet. You did not anoint my head with oil, but she has anointed my feet with ointment. Therefore, I tell you, her sins, which were many, have been forgiven; hence she has shown great love. But the one to whom little is forgiven, loves little.’ Then he said to her, ‘Your sins are forgiven.’ But those who were at the table with him began to say among themselves, ‘Who is this who even forgives sins? ‘ And he said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”

Words For Mission

Led by A WISE Team Member

One: As you leave this place, may you be

awestruck by the beauty of this world.

May you laugh, and may it be contagious.

May you overflow with love for those around

you.

May you be effusive with hope and quick to

point out joy.

All: And in all of our living, and breathing,

and being, may we find ourselves full to

the brim with God’s Spirit of Life and

Love, and may it change our lives.

One: In the name of the Lover, the Beloved, and

Love itself— go in peace, full to the brim.

These are the times!

All: We are the people!

One: All of Creation is blessed.

All: May we love all and serve all.

One: May God be with you.

All: And also with you.

One: Amen.

All: Amen.
