Prelude ~ The Perfect Church by Brian Sirchio

Shared by Travis Meyers

Welcome and Announcements

Pastor Ken

Opening Words

Led by Pastor Ken

One: Who are we and what are we called to do?

All: We are the sensitive and responsive ones called

to create a world where every person is radically

affirmed and barriers between people become

bridges of inclusion, justice, and spirituality.

Call to Worship

Led by Linda Johnston

One: Within us is the courage of creators,

All: to make bold plans, to make wise use of materials and powers.

One: Progress is not inevitable,

All: except when we take that which is merely possible, and by our determination make it inevitable.

One: We are gathered together in this sacred place to seek strength and courage for this, and the coming days.

All: And here once more, may we commit ourselves to the building of a nobler life, for all humankind.

Singing Our Faith ~ Emotional People

Led and Written by Travis Meyers

1. We are angry

And that’s ok

We are angry

And that’s ok

There are times in our lives

Where we might not be ok

And that’s ok That’s ok

2. We are scared…

3. We are surviving…

4. We are longing to be ok…

We are emotional people

In a different place

And that’s ok That’s ok

And we are singing and praying for our lives....

Celebrations and Celebration Song

Led by Pastor Ken

At this time, we share moments from our lives: birthdays,

anniversaries, and words of peace and justice. We celebrate

sorrows and grief as part of our comprehensive view of life.

Give voice to goodness!

Celebrate your heart and your spirit.

Celebrate your life while you live it.

Even when it’s hard to do,

celebrate the best of you!

Celebrate your dreams and your visions.

Celebrate the love you’ve been given.

Cherish all that you’ve been through.

Celebrate the best of you!

Invitation to Give

Led by Susan Glynn

Our most important stewardship is our love and care for each other. Please use the “Thinking of You” cards to send a message of care to someone in our fellowship and put it in the offering plate.

As we bring our offerings forward, may our whole life move forward, in good faith, with good feelings, and with a strong conviction about the future. Our offerings for the celebration of life, in this place and beyond, shall now be received.

One: Our greatest stewardship is our care for each other. In caring for one another,

All: May we be untiring.

All: May we be tender.

Word About Life~ Ezra 3:10-13

Interview With Design Architect Susanne Rothwell

When the builders laid the foundation of the temple of the Lord, the priests in their vestments were stationed to praise the Lord with trumpets, and the Levites, the sons of Asaph, with cymbals, according to the directions of King David of Israel; and they sang responsively, praising and giving thanks to the Lord, ‘For he is good, for his steadfast love endures for ever towards Israel.’ And all the people responded with a great shout when they praised the Lord

because the foundation of the house of the Lord was laid. But many of the priests and Levites and heads of families, old people who had seen the first house on its foundations, wept with a loud voice when they saw this house, though many shouted aloud for joy, so that the people could not distinguish the sound of the joyful shout from the sound of the people’s weeping, for the people shouted so loudly that the sound was heard far away.

Sending Forth Song ~ Walls Mark Our Bound’ries

by Ruth C. Duck and Jim Strethdee

1. Walls mark our bound’ries and keep us apart;

Walls keep the world from our eyes and our heart.

Tables are round, making room for one more,

Welcoming friends we had not known before.

So build us a temple and tear down the wall!

Christ is our host. There is room for us all!

2. Walls make us sure who is in and who’s out Walls keep us safe from all question and doubt, But at a temple in open exchange New ties are formed as our lives rearrange.

Chorus

3. Once we were strangers, divided, alone. Hate and distrust built a wall stone by stone. Now at our temple the Spirit we share. Joins us to Christ in a circle of care.

Chorus
