Welcome and Announcements

· June 22 Blood drive

· June 22nd Congregational Meeting

· June 29th Sabbath Send Off and Potluck

Opening Words

One: Who are we and what are we called to do?

All: We are the sensitive and responsive

ones called to create a world where

every person is radically affirmed

and barriers between people become

bridges of inclusion, justice, and

spirituality.

Entry into Spiritual Community

Liturgist: Marilyn Rampley

One: Today we will consider many aspects of

Sabbath Ceasing—

All: We cease not just from work itself, but

also from the need to accomplish and be

productive.

One: Today we consider ceasing from the worry

and tension that accompanies our criterion

of efficiency.

All: We cease from our efforts to be in

control of our lives as if we were God.

One: Today we consider ceasing from our

possessiveness and our being enmeshed and

defined by our current culture.

All: Our Sabbath Time is coming!

Singing Our Faith ~ Circle of Friends

by Jim Manley

1. Come and sit together in a circle of friends

Be at home, be at peace, be at rest.

Come and sit together in a circle of friends,

Sitting in a circle is best.

Laugh (echo), cry (echo), live (echo), die (echo),

Hello (echo), goodbye (echo),

And God make us a circle of friends.

2. Somewhere it is evening and the woods fill up with

moonlight.

The creatures make their music and the word is on

the wind.

There’s a fire in the clearing and the voices you are

hearing

Are the singing of a circle of friends.

Chorus

One: We come –

All: To center ourselves,

to open ourselves,

to remember ourselves.

And to celebrate the life we share

together.

3. Once when it was night and he sat with them at

supper

He told them that this feast was the beginning and

the end.

And he made the bread his body and he made the

wine his blood

And he gave them to his circle of friends.

Chorus

4. Somewhere it is morning and the church fills up

with sunlight.

The Spirit’s in the music and the word is on the

wind.

There is fire on the table and the bread and wine

are speaking

And God makes us a circle of friends. Chorus

Music for Thinking of You Cards

Shared by Christine Kyhn Jesus Calls Us O’er the Tumult arr. Ken Medema

In the pew racks are cards with the title “Thinking Of You”. Please use these cards to write a note to someone so they know they are remembered and cared for. Put the card in the offering plate when it comes by and the church office will forward the cards to the person addressed in the card. This was one of the elements of our time together that you lited up as important for all of us.

Thank you!

In response to our celebrations and the deep goodness of life, our offerings for the celebration of life, in this place and beyond, shall now be received.
