Welcome and Announcements

Shared by Pastor Ken

Opening Words

Led by Pastor Ken

One: Who are we and what are we called to do?

All: We are the sensitive and responsive ones called

to create a world where every person is radically

affirmed and barriers between people become

bridges of inclusion, justice, and spirituality.

Call to Worship

Led by Judy Schwiebert

One: Worship is a place to rest.

All: We breathe deeply here.

One: We still our aching bones.

All: We sit in the quiet.

One: We surround ourselves with music.

All: Worship is a place to rest.

One: Worship is a place to grow.

All: We listen for God’s word.

One: We invite it to challenge us.

All: We lean in with curiosity.

One: We ask questions.

All: Worship is a place to grow.

One: So, come into this space. Come rest and grow here.

All: For where two or more are gathered, God is

always there.

One: Let us worship our gracious God.

Singing Our Welcome ~ We Are The People

We are the old people, we are the new people,

We are the same people, deeper than before.

We are the old people, we are the new people,

We are the same people always seeking more.

1. Movin’ and growin’, askin’ and knowin,’

We keep on the search cause the job’s never done.

Just when you thought you had learned all you

ought to,

You’re findin’ out you really only just begun.

Chorus

2. Spirit is weary if we’re in a hurry

To prove we’ve arrived at the world of the wise.

Who can be knowin’ what God will be showin’

When next we have a chance to really open our eyes.

Chorus

3. Learnin’ and livin’, lovin’ and givin’,

It ain’t over yet ‘til you walk through the door,

Maybe we’ll find out we’ve only had time now

At rearrangin’ furniture on just the first floor.

Chorus

Word About Life ~ Luke 13:6-9

Shared by Pastor Ken

Then he told this parable: ‘A man had a fig tree planted in

his vineyard, and he came looking for fruit on it and found

none. So he said to the gardener, “See here! For three

years I have come looking for fruit on this fig tree, and still, I

find none. Cut it down! Why should it be wasting the soil?”

He replied, “Sir, let it alone for one more year, until I dig

round it and put manure on it. If it bears fruit next year, well

and good; but if not, you can cut it down.

Moment of Silence and Meditation

Call to Confession

Shared by Judy Schwiebert

Friends, we carve out time for confession in worship

because hearing about God’s grace once is not enough.

We need that reminder again, and again, and again. So join

me in speaking the truth of our lives and joining me in

receiving God’s grace again.

Prayer of Confession

Holy God, There are days when we fail to rest. We

stretch ourselves too thin. We say “yes” to every

invitation. We run a million miles a minute. We ignore

your command to rest. There are also days when we fail

to act. We wait for someone else. We take the easy

road. We find excuses and justify our inaction.

God, forgive our imbalance. Remind us that birds

rest, and they also fly. Show us how to do the same.

Amen.

Words of Forgiveness

Shared by Judy Schwiebert

Family of faith, I have good news! Our God does not keep

score. Our God does not hold grudges. Our God does not

assume the worst about us. No, our God offers grace, and

endless second chances, and boundless love. So join me

in proclaiming the good news of the gospel: God’s grace is

deeper than the ocean. God’s love is wider than the sky.

We are seen. We are claimed. We are forgiven. May this

realization change and inspire us. Thanks be to God!

Amen.

Singing Our Faith ~ Joy Like a Fountain

1. I’ve got peace like a river, I’ve got peace like a river,

I’ve got peace like a river in my soul. (Repeat)

2. I’ve got love like an ocean, I’ve got love like an ocean,

I’ve got love like an ocean in my soul. (Repeat)

3. I’ve got joy like a fountain, I’ve got joy like a fountain,

I’ve got joy like a fountain in my soul. (Repeat)

4. I’ve got peace like a river, I’ve got love like an ocean,

I’ve got joy like a fountain in my soul. (Repeat)

Celebrations

Led by Pastor Ken

At this time, we share moments from our lives: birthdays,

anniversaries, and words of peace and justice. We celebrate

sorrows and grief as part of our comprehensive view of life.

Give voice to goodness!

Music for Thinking of You Cards

In the pew racks are cards with the title “Thinking Of You”.

Please use these cards to write a note to someone so they

know they are remembered and cared for. Put the card in

the offering plate when it comes by and the church office

will forward the cards to the person addressed in the card.

This was one of the elements of our time together that you

lifted up as important for all of us. Thank you!

Invitation to Give As A Prayer

Led by Judy Schwiebert

In response to our celebrations and the deep goodness of life, our offerings for the

celebration of life, in this place and beyond, shall now be

received.

Word About Life For Today ~

Shared by Rev. Ken Heintzelman

Words for Mission

Led by Judy Schwiebert

One: As you leave this place, may you find God in every

messy middle things of life. May you know that the

world is bigger than two sides. May you trust that

you are made in the image of God, and therefore,

you contain multitudes. So may you move through

this world with an open heart, with a curious mind,

and with the confidence that you do not go alone.

God is with you in the mountains, in the valleys,

and everywhere in between. These are the times!

All: We are the people!

One: All of Creation is blessed!

All: May we love all and serve all!

One: God be with you

All: And also with you.

One: Amen.

All: Amen!

Sending Forth Song ~ Circles

All my life’s a circle, sunrise and sundown.

The moon rolls thru’ the night-time,

Till the daybreak comes around.

All my life’s a circle, but I can’t tell you why.

The seasons spinning ‘round again,

The years keep rolling by.

1. It seems like I’ve been here before,

I can’t remember when,

But I’ve got this funny feeling

That I’ll be back once again.

There’s no straight lines, make up my life

And all my roads have bends.

There’s no clear cut beginnings,

And so far no deep ends.

Chorus

2. I’ve found you a thousand times,

I guess you’ve done the same,

But then we’ll lose each other,

It’s just like children’s games.

And as I see you here again

The thought runs thru’ my mind.

Our love is like a circle,

Let’s go ‘round one more time.

Chorus

Sermon Reboot is OFF for today.

This is a time to talk about the message and explore together using the ORID Art Form Conversation methodology. What is ORID? It stands for Observation, Reflection, Interpretation, and Decision. You will get the hang of it.
