Reuter Organ Company, based in Lawrence, Kansas, will remove the organ console tomorrow to begin Phase 1 of the organ restoration project! It should be back in place and in operation by Christmas.
Meanwhile, a local musical instrument repair enthusiast, Tony Manzo, has loaned St. Mary's a pipe organ for our use indefinitely while our instrument is restored. Dr. Geoff Wilcken and Mr. Manzo installed the instrument after Fr. Charles hauled it across eastern Kansas in a U-Haul. After some tuning by friend of St. Mary's Doug Funston, and lots of hard work on Geoff's part, the instrument is in working order. You'll hear it in action next Sunday!
