The season of Thanksgiving is here, and we are thankful for the many blessings of our school, students, faculty, staff, and families. Please note that our annual KidsGive campaign, a partnership with Perry Volunteer Outreach since 2008 to provide gifts for children in our community, will begin Monday, November 18th. Gift tags will be located on Christmas trees on campus, and all donated gifts need to be returned to Westfield by December 6th.

Take a moment to read this week's Westfield Weekly to see some of the highlights of our students and their activities! We hope to see you in the Hornets' Nest tomorrow night to cheer on our varsity football team vs Deerfield-Windsor in the semi-finals of the GIAA AAA State playoffs - kickoff is at 7:30 pm. It is great to be a Westfield Hornet!

Our nation honored veterans of our armed forces this past week, and we are thankful for the many veterans who have served our country to protect the freedoms we enjoy. We are especially grateful for these veterans who are part of our Westfield family! #VeteransDay2024

Spanish IV students visited the kindergarten classes this week with their own disguised turkeys. The seniors shared their turkeys with the kindergarteners in Spanish, and the kindergarteners were able to share their turkey projects with the seniors. Another blessing of being on a Pre-K through 12 campus! #kindergartenandseniorbuddies

Congratulations to our FIRST LEGO League (FLL) Challenge team and coaches Jarrod Lewis and JJ Siegle! They participated in a local scrimmage hosted by STARBASE Robins, 21st Century Partnership, and the Middle Georgia STEM Alliance. In their first experience with a robotics competition, the team of 4th through 6th grade students demonstrated poise, precision, and consistency as they showcased their coding abilities to program a robot to accomplish missions on the FLL Challenge game board. On December 7th, the Westfield team will attend a Regional Tournament at Middle Georgia State University. Great job, Hornets! #FIRSTLegoLeagueChallenge

Fifth graders in Mrs. Shelley Greer’s science classes have been learning about adaptations. This week, they tested various bird “beaks” to determine their effectiveness at picking up different food items. #handsonlearning

Congratulations to freshman Debate team member Ryan Dunaway on competing today in novice Public Forum debate at the Lassiter High School tournament in Marietta! #westfielddebate

Upper School honors chemistry students in Mrs. Melissa Smith's class had an exciting time conducting a flame test lab! They explored how different metal salts produce unique flame colors, learning about the connection between electron movement and light emission of specific wavelengths. From the bright reds of lithium salts to the brilliant greens of copper compounds, each test was a fascinating visual demonstration of science in action. Chemistry comes to life when you can see it—and in this case, watch it burn! #westfieldscience

Sixth graders in Mrs. Karen Ray’s art class are getting their hands in the clay, molding and making nativity scenes. We look forward to seeing their finished work! #handsonlearning

Our third grade students welcomed a special guest who spoke with them about not only kindness, but also about perseverance - a vocabulary word they have been studying. Moses Odhiambo is a missionary leader in Kenya with Grasp International, leading their Echoes of Mercy Mission. He, along with Pastor David Grantham '79, shared with our students about their ministry which includes a school for over 600 children and also a program that trains pastors to share the Gospel. #learningaboutkindness

Thank you to our Praise Band for leading us in worship and to Pastor Jeff Glenn, state of Georgia coordinator for the National Network of Youth Ministries and also a Bible teacher at Westfield, for speaking at this week's assembly. He shared scripture from Luke 9, reminding and encouraging our Middle and Upper School students that our daily allegiance to God is of the greatest importance - a "must" in our lives. #WednesdayWisdom

During this season of Thanksgiving, our Middle and Upper School students have had the opportunity to serve Jay's HOPE Foundation by donating “Blessing Bags” for the families of children who are fighting cancer. Each blessing bag includes items needed to make a Thanksgiving meal plus a grocery store gift card. We are thankful for organizations like Jay’s Hope and the opportunity for our students and families to serve. Thank you to our students for making a difference! #servingourcommunity

Westfield was well represented by these students (Maddox Davies, Sally Hulbert, and Reid Black), along with faculty member Mr. Robert Jones, at the Georgia Independent School Association Leadership Conference. #buildingleaders

We are Westfield proud of these three senior student-athletes not only for their hard work and accomplishments in the classroom but also on the athletic field! This morning, they signed letters of intent to continue their academic and athletic careers at the collegiate level. Congratulations to Cate Raines (softball, Mercer University), Neal O’Brien (baseball - Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College), and Madison Hammock (softball - Troy University)! We are Westfield proud! #westfieldsoftball #signingday
