Activity centers in library enrichment are so much fun for our kindergarten students! Each activity helps students improve their fine motor skills while learning to work and learn collaboratively. #westfieldkindergarten #libraryenrichment #handsonlearning #collaborativelearning #educationofmindandheart

Eighth grade students in Mrs. Amy Hiley's physical science classes are conducting litmus tests to measure the pH level of a variety of everyday household solutions and determine whether each solution is acidic or basic. Some of the solutions included tea, coffee, lemon juice, milk of magnesia, alka seltzer, and tap water. #handsonlearning #acidsandbaseslab #westfieldscience #educationofmindandheart

Students in Coach Rhett Farmer’s 8th grade social studies classes have been working on writing like a historian. Students have been practicing contextualization in introductions and learning how to write nuanced theses that recognize complexity in various historical issues, such as the one they are tackling today. Was Andrew Carnegie a “robber baron” or a “captain of industry”? #writing #educationofmindandheart

Our fourth grade students stepped back in time as part of their Patriots Day. The students have been immersed in the study of the Colonial period, learning not only the history but also the guiding principles of the time. Thank you to Westfield parent Brigadier General John Kubinec, USAF, retired, and CEO of the 21st Century Partnership, for inspiring our Middle and Upper School students. General Kubinec reminded our students of the great plan that God has for each of us and how our faith in His plan guides us in our lives. He shared with students that our faith in God helps us to face and conquer fear, doubt, and the temptation to try to live for others and the world. We are grateful to General Kubinec for sharing God's Word with our students and also for his dedication and service in the United States Air Force in ensuring our freedom. #VeteransDayassembly #WednesdayWisdom #educationofmindandheart

Congratulations to our Middle School clay target shooters who competed in the GIAA Middle School Invitational Clay Target Championships held at Forest City Gun Club in Savannah: Rhodes Bledsoe 8th grade, Shepard Bledsoe 5th grade, and Bryce Barker 5th grade.

Congratulations also to eleven students who completed in the GIAA Varsity Clay Target State Championships at Forest City Gun Club, held over three days to accommodate 589 competitors. The competition involved three individual disciplines, with 100 targets for each. Our Westfield team battled very unpleasant cold conditions and brutally blinding sun rises, making Target acquisition extremely difficult. All with incredible tenacious character. Westfield’s Clay Target Team has been aggressively preparing for this prestigious event: Will McClain - 12th grade, William Stringer - 12th grade, Luke Davidson - 11th grade, Lauren Davidson - 11th grade, Clare Frances Cheek - 11th grade, Lleyton Kane - 10th grade, Ava Williams - 10th grade, Brooks Blowers - 9th grade, Julian Barragan - 9th grade, Savannah Scarisbrick - 9th grade, and Rhodes Bledsoe - 8th grade.

Clare Frances Cheek placed 4th in Ladies Highest Overall, 5th in Ladies Sporting Clays, and 5th in Ladies Skeet. Savannah Scarisbrick placed 2nd in Ladies Highest Overall, 1st in Ladies Trap, 3rd in Ladies Sporting Clays, 4th in Ladies Skeet, and 5th in Open Division Trap. She was also selected for the All State Team. Ava Williams achieved a personal best, competing in Trap. Great job, Hornet shooters! We are Westfield proud! #westfieldclaytargetshooting
