ITBS Testing March 25-26
Next week, our students in grades 3 through 8 will be taking the Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS), a national standardized achievement test that measures a student’s knowledge in subject areas students have learned in school including reading, language arts, and mathematics. Our third, fourth, and fifth graders will be testing Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, March 25 - 27. Our Middle School students will be testing Tuesday and Wednesday, March 25 and 26.
To help your child prepare for the testing, we ask parents to:
1. Make sure your child gets plenty of rest the night before the test.
2. Make sure your child eats a healthy breakfast on the morning of the test.
3. Try to help your child have a normal routine the night before the test (i.e. a family meal together, a relaxing night at home, etc.)
4. Make sure you communicate to your child that testing is a typical, everyday part of schooling; help your child understand the importance of testing without raising his/her anxiety level.
5. Remind your child to listen carefully to the teacher who administers the test. Encourage him/her to read directions carefully. Remind him/her to read all the choices before selecting an answer.
6. Give your child a BIG hug before they go to school and tell them how proud you are of them!

Attention 8th Grade Parents!
It is time to register your Class of 2029 students for their Upper School courses for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year. Please check your email for a packet of information so you can begin the discussion at home on what courses your child will need.
On Monday, March 24, Dr. Rhonda McDuffie, School Counselor, will visit the 8th grade science classes to talk about Upper School courses, GPA, and best study habits. They will receive a printed copy of the packet to bring home.
On Tuesday, March 25, all parents of 8th graders are invited to Coffee & Conversation in the Cafeteria Hive from 8:10 to 8:50 am. Just park your car and come over at the end of the car rider drop off! Mr. Shane Hall, Academic Dean, Mrs. Jackie Guy, College & Career Counselor, and Dr. McDuffie will be on hand to answer any questions you have about Upper School courses and what to expect in Upper School.
On Wednesday, March 26, all Course Registration sheets will be due (turn into Mr. Lewis), but we encourage you to complete them and leave them with us on 3/25 at the Coffee & Conversation. We need the first two pages returned. Please keep the other information for your records.

Move over 13 WMAZ Chief Meteorologist Ben Jones! These second graders in Mrs. Tonya Hair’s class are studying different types of clouds and learning about weather! #cloudspotters #westfieldscience #westfieldsecondgrade | Fifth graders in Mrs. Shelley Greer’s social studies class have been learning about life in America during WWII and how many Americans grew Victory Gardens to help with the war efforts. The students explored the “Victory Gardens” traveling WWII trunk from Kennesaw State University. In four stations, the students examined photos of families planting victory gardens, looked at historic posters urging Americans to plant victory gardens, planned a pretend victory garden based on vegetables that would grow in our area, and examined real WWII artifacts like ration coupon books, seed packets, vegetable baskets, and a sun hat worn while working in the garden. They also planted garden beans and created their classroom victory garden that they will watch grow over the next few weeks. #handsonlearning #studyinghistory #westfieldfifthgrade #educationofmindandheart | Who knew that measuring the circumference, diameter, and radius of circles could be so sweet?! Sixth graders in Mrs. Stephanie Black's math class applied their math skills to some delicious treats on March 14th - Pi Day! #PiDay #middleschoolmath #handsonlearning #makingmathfun #educationofmindandheart | Our sixth graders have arrived at Banning Mills! What a gorgeous day to be outside for zip lining, hiking, team building, and fun! #sixthgradefield | Today, our seventh grade classes had the opportunity to visit and explore replicas of ancient structures and hear the history of the Bible during their field trip to the Biblical History Center in LaGrange. #learningoutsidetheclassroom | Our eighth graders are enjoying a great week in our Nation’s Capital. From Mount Vernon to the monuments, Capitol Hill, and the Smithsonian Museums, they are learning and discovering the history of our great country! #learningandexploring #westfieldeighthgrade | | Initiative! That's what our Lower School students learned all about in their Faithful Friday assembly. Seth Green and Drew Cook from Southside Warner Robins encouraged students to take initiative in seeing what needs to be done and doing it, as Matthew 7:12 reminds us to do to others as we would have them do to us. Students interacted in fun games and skits to help them see the importance of helping others. Thank you also to our Lower School chorus, directed by Mrs. Lea Rogers, for leading our students in worship! #FaithfulFriday #educationofmindandheart | | Our varsity girls’ golf team made Westfield history today at their first match versus Southland in Americus! Pictured left to right: Millie Sparrow, Kenzie Burkhart, Kate Lane, Carlyn Wells, Addie Hobbs, Riley Nelson. The team is coached by Duke Lane, Andy Sparrow, and Jeff Quattlebuam. Riley Nelson was low round for the Hornets. We are Westfield proud! #westfieldgolf | | Spring means our Hornets are taking the court! Our varsity tennis team is getting ready for region tournament play today in Columbus! Good luck, Hornets!! #westfieldtennis | |
One week left to register for Westfield's intramural Youth Soccer Program for boys and girls in Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grades! To ensure we can proceed with the season, we need sufficient players and parent volunteers/coaches. We need parents to volunteer as coaches to guide our young players during practices and games. If you're interested, please reach out! For more information and to volunteer to coach, please text Lexie Martin, Director of Auxiliary Services, at 478-550-2444.
