February 21, 2019
Hello Westfield families!
It's a busy weekend at Westfield! Don't miss our Upper School drama students' performance tonight and tomorrow night in the Recital Hall...It's a pirate party for everyone! Our JV and varsity baseball teams start the 2019 season with a home opener tonight vs Deerfield. On Saturday, be sure to bring your pot of chili or come and help choose the best chili at the WFO Chili Cookoff at 1 p.m. in the Cafeteria! Monday night, our Upper School foreign language will present their annual talent show at 7 p.m. in the Recital Hall. And, don't forget, today is the deadline
for re-enrolling your children for the 2019-2020 school year!
It's great to be a Westfield Hornet!

Help Westfield "Fight the Flu"

Unfortunately, the flu is continuing to affect many of our students. If your child experiences the flu or flu-like symptoms, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends that he or she stay home for at least 24 hours after fever is gone without the use of fever-reducing medicine.

All of our restrooms and buildings were given an extra cleaning and disinfecting over the winter break. To help us in preventing the flu, please discuss the preventive actions listed below with your children and remind them of these important everyday actions to help stop the spread of germs:
  • Wash hands often with soap and water. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
  • Cover nose and mouth with a tissue when coughing or sneezing. Throw the tissue in the trash after it has been used.
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Try to avoid close contact with sick people.
Thirteen Seniors Nominated for
Golden Eagle Awards

We are excited to congratulate thirteen seniors who have been nominated for the Telegraph's Golden Eagle Awards. They will be recognized at the 2019 Golden Eagle Awards ceremony on April 11th.
National Chili Day is February 28th, and the Westfield Family Organization (WFO) is sponsoring a Chili Cook-Off for all Westfield families! Bring your best pot of chili to see whose is best or just come and be a judge! WFO will provide hot dogs, chips, and drinks. Come out for some great chili and family fun! For more information, contact Jennifer Lewis, WFO President, at 478-235-1780.
TODAY by midnight is the deadline for re-enrollment for the 2019-2020 school year to guarantee your student's place for next year AND avoid a late fee. Re-enrollment is online via MyWestfield (powered by RenWeb). If you have questions, please contact our Business Office at 478-987-0547 ext. 227 or 228.

Junior-Senior Prom to be held March 16th

Westfield's Junior-Senior Prom is scheduled for Saturday, March 16 in the Recital Hall. Prom is an event only for the members of the junior and senior classes and their dates. Please note that sophomores may attend as dates, but freshman (or younger) from Westfield or any other school may not attend. The prom is a formal event for the students. Young men should wear a tuxedo or dark suit, and young ladies should wear modest evening dresses.
Our school photographer, We Do Photography, will be taking pictures before the junior and senior class dinner and also at Westfield during the prom. Juniors and seniors (and their dates) will be able to view and order photos online via We Do Photography’s website. No pre-payment is needed. For convenience, students should schedule a time online for the pre-dinner pictures at  Appointments-We Do Photography
Did you know that playing the game Candyland is a great way to learn in the classroom? Our second graders in Mrs. Shannon Reber’s class are “finding their way” to Candyland via math problems, reading, and sentence corrections to make sure they are on the right path! #favoritegamesmakelearningfun   #interactiveclassroom   #whywestfield
Fifth graders in Mrs. Shelley Greer's science classes are using technology via their own smart devices to create molecules and compounds. What a neat way to blend science and technology! #westfieldscience #interactivelearning #technologyintheclassroom
