Vespidae Yearbook Dedicated to Mrs. Pam Pierce

The Westfield yearbook staff dedicated the 2019-2020 Vespidae to Mrs. Pam Pierce, longtime English teacher and literary coordinator. She was honored as the STAR teacher several times throughout her years at Westfield. Mrs. Pierce is a Westfield alumna and the parent of two Westfield grads, David Pierce '03 and Liza Pierce '06. During her twenty-five years at Westfield until her recent retirement, she touched the lives of countless students, leaving behind an incredible legacy. Congratulations, Mrs. Pam Pierce! #westfieldyearbook
#facebehindthemask spotlights

This week's #facebehindthemask spotlight shines on Mrs. Tina Bowker and Mrs. Leigh Ann Champion.

Mrs. Bowker began working at Westfield in 2009. She can be found in the Arts & Sciences Building teaching Spanish to Upper School students. Here is what Mrs. Bowker says she enjoys most about working at Westfield: “Respectful, hardworking students and supportive parents.”

Mrs. Champion has worked at Westfield for 18 years. Mrs. Champion first began working at Westfield in 1996 teaching health and PE, as well as coaching basketball, softball, and track. After a brief hiatus, she returned to Westfield in 2012 to teach Middle School Science. Here is what Mrs. Champion says she enjoys most about working at Westfield: “The students-they keep me young! My middle school faculty peers are amazing!”
Our third graders have discovered a fun and creative way to learn about all fifty states through their “Flat Stanley” project. Based on the book, “Flat Stanley” by Jeff Brown, the project includes students sending flat photos of themselves to “visit and explore” places all around the United States. Here’s what a few of our third graders have to say about the project! #handsonlearning #thirdgradesocialstudies #westfieldlowerschool
Eighth graders in Mr. John McClellan’s English classes experienced an incredible opportunity this week as they heard stories from Mrs. Marshien Ballard and her husband, Lt. Col. Joe Ballard. Mrs. Ballard grew up in Holland and shared with the students about her family’s experiences during World War II. Hearing Mrs. Ballard’s stories certainly brought “real life" to their reading and understanding of “The Hiding Place” by Corrie Ten Boom. Thank you to the Ballards for visiting with our students! #educationofmindandheart
Mrs. Lauren Mann’s fourth grade music class is making quite the rumble in their bucket drumming piece, “Thunder”....and having fun! #fourthgrademusic
