March 18, 2021
Greetings!
Spring is here, and our students are working hard in the classroom and in extracurricular activities. Next week, our seniors will participate in the Westfield Senior Experience (WSE) program as they "shadow" for the week to observe professionals in our community and their careers. Spring break is just around the corner - March 29 through April 2. Don't forget...Monday, April 5th is a school holiday for our success in this year's Annual Fund. Our Booster Club annual golf tournament and raffle will be held Thursday, April 29th - more information below in today's newsletter. #westfieldweekly
Thank you for supporting the Green, Gold, & Sold! 50th Anniversary Online Auction. Sponsorships and purchases totaled over $75,000! Congratulations to 2nd and 3rd grade for having the most parent participation during the Facebook Live event. These grades will receive a Sno-cone party. Also, many thanks to Will McGehee for serving as host and auctioneer. We continue to be amazed and humbled by the generosity of the Westfield community. Proceeds from the online auction will benefit
the 50th Anniversary Campaign to renovate the Gymnatorium.

Face Behind the Mask Spotlight

Today’s #facebehindthemask spotlight is Coach Chip Champion. Coach Champion has worked at Westfield for 9 years. He serves as the Athletic Director, Director of Buildings & Grounds, Director of Transportation, and also coaches Middle School football, track, and girls basketball. Here is what Coach Champion says he enjoys most about working at Westfield: “I enjoy the sense of community here and watching the students excel both inside and outside the classroom.” #facebehindthemask #healthyhornets #wearewestfield
A huge THANK YOU to the Houston County Health Department and their entire staff for all they have done to help keep our Hornets and our community healthy and safe! The health department visits Westfield every year to provide flu vaccines to our students, faculty, and staff. Last week, the health department staff provided COVID vaccines to our faculty and staff. We are grateful for the work they do!! Our third graders in Mrs. Karen Ray’s art class made special thank you cards that were delivered with lunch to the entire staff. Thank you! #servingourcommunity #healthyhornets #thankyou
Second graders in Mrs. Shannon Reber’s class found a fun (and yummy!) way to learn the different phases of the moon — by sculpting Oreo cookies! #handsonlearning #westfieldsecondgrade #discoverwestfield
Fifth graders in Mrs. Shelley Greer's science classes witnessed chemical changes while conducting experiments. They mixed baking soda and vinegar to make carbon dioxide to blow up a balloon. Then they mixed yeast with hydrogen peroxide to make oxygen bubbles and a change in temperature. #handsonlearning #westfieldfifthgrade #educationofmindandheart
Celebrating Pi Day in math! Sixth graders in Mrs. Stephanie Black’s math classes celebrated Pi Day, measuring the diameter and circumference of many circles to calculate the ratio of 3.14...and enjoyed eating those circular items! Thanks to Mrs. Black and the sixth grade parents who provided so many circular treats! #handsonlearning #funinmath #piday #westfieldmath#handsonlearning #westfieldmath
Senior French IV students in Mrs. Anna Caulley’s class are sharing their language skills and knowledge by “teaching” eighth graders in their introduction to French class this semester. We love seeing our Upper School students as mentors and leaders on campus and in the classroom! #westfieldworldlanguage #collaborativelearning #educationofmindandheart
We are Westfield proud of Macy Morrone (5th grade) and Clare Frances Cheek (8th grade) for being recognized by the Perry Chamber as Students of the Quarter! They are outstanding students and leaders. Thank you to the Chamber for honoring our students in such a special way. #studentsofthequarter #westfieldproud
Thank you to Pastor Jim Williams of Friendship Baptist Church for sharing God’s Word with our Middle and Upper School students this week via virtual assembly. We are thankful for the opportunity to help students grown in their faith as part of our mission.
