Hello Westfield families!
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good. His love endures forever. Psalm 136:1

As we enter the season of Thanksgiving, our students are giving thanks and serving their community by participating in KidsGive, volunteering at Mistletoe Market, writing thank you notes to faculty/staff, and visiting a local nursing home to make cards with residents, while our chorus students are singing at Mistletoe Market and our first graders are performing "The First Thanksgiving." Our Pre-K and kindergarten students are planning their own Thanksgiving feasts, learning about the friendships that the pilgrims and Indians made and their thankfulness to God and to each other. We are thankful for these teachable moments to help our students learn that God calls us to have thankful hearts. We pray that you and your family have a wonderful, safe, and restful Thanksgiving holiday. As a reminder, our Thanksgiving holidays are Monday, November 25th through Friday, November 29th. We look forward to seeing everyone back on campus on Monday, December 2.
Don't forget students may wear spirit wear (Westfield t-shirt) every day during the month of December for reaching our 50th Anniversary Campaign participation goal. Thank you to all supported the campaign. If you have not yet contributed, we hope you will consider making a donation. Help Make Christmas Merrier for
Children in Our Community!
Bring in Your KidsGive Gift by 12/4

Thank you all for selecting one of the KidsGive gift tags and purchasing the item listed on the tag for a child in our community. We ask that your gift be returned to Westfield no later than December 4th so that we may present these gifts to Perry Volunteer Outreach at our school-wide KidsGive assembly on Friday, December 6th.

Just a reminder of the KidsGive gift guidelines:

1) Please purchase only the item(s) that is listed on the gift tag per request from PVO
2) Gift(s) must be returned to Westfield by Wednesday, December 4th
3) Gift(s) must be unwrapped - please do not wrap your gift
Please note that if the gift item is more than one item (i.e. the item is socks and you purchase more than one pair), you may put all items in a large Ziploc bag with the KidsGive attached to the bag
4) Gift(s) must have the KidsGive tag attached

We hope that you will use this opportunity as a "teachable moment" to help students realize the importance of helping others, showing kindness, and serving our community. #kidsgive
Today’s post is a salute to Westfield first grade's presentation of The First Thanksgiving . This special tradition began in the early 1970’s when the first grade class, dressed as pilgrims and Indians, shared a Thanksgiving poem and enjoyed a delicious feast with their families. In 1985, first grade teacher Rita Parks turned the small performance into a full performance about the history of the first Thanksgiving at Plymouth Rock, complete with speaking parts, music, and costumes. Over the year, the first grade's program has evolved to include patriotic songs, classic hymns, and guest performances from members of the Westfield community. This week, a new generation of first graders shared this sweet program and once again reminded us to always give thanks with a grateful heart.

Choosing to live extraordinary lives as extraordinary people created by God was the message that Mr. Jerry Perkins, an insurance executive in Opelika, Alabama, and former high school coach, shared with our Middle and Upper School students during this morning's assembly. Mr. Perkins encouraged the students to be followers, not fans, of Christ and to be heroes in other people's lives. Be sure to ask your Middle or Upper School student about the five chapters of Mr. Perkins' handbook! #educationofmindandheart #faithandvalues #wednesdayassembly
