Face Behind the Mask Spotlight

Today's #facebehindthemask spotlight features Dr. Cynthia Morton. Dr. Morton has worked at Westfield for one year as the Director of College Admissions and School Counseling. Here is what Dr. Morton says she enjoys most about working at Westfield: "I truly want to thank the Westfield staff, students, and parents for accepting me as their new counselor!! I had some pretty big shoes to fill, and I know I still have a lot to learn, but everyone has made me feel right at home. Coming from the public school system to a private school was a really big change for me. However, I love the ability to foster true authentic relationships with the students and families here at Westfield. Also, having the ability to share my faith is so refreshing. Happy summer to all our families and I will see you in the fall!"
Many thanks to the Westfield Family Organization (WFO) for coordinating Lower School's end of the year party. Our students had a blast playing on the water slides and enjoying slushies! Happy Summer!
These precious students have finished their Pre-K year, and our ready for summer...and kindergarten next year! They have learned so much, and we are very proud of them! #preksupersummersendoff2021 #westfieldprek #educationofmindandheart
Congratulations to our kindergarten graduates...Westfield's class of 2033! We can't wait to see you in first grade! #westfieldkindergarten #educationofmindandheart
One of our favorite Westfield traditions is the fifth grade crossing of the quad. Congratulations to our fifth grade Hornets...now officially in Middle School! #westfieldtraditions #westfieldfifthgrade #educationofmindandheart
Sixth graders in Ms. Dana Griffin’s world cultures class presented research projects on World War II. Several students shared the experiences of their own great-grandfathers. #studyinghistory #westfieldsixthgrade #worldcultures #educationofmindandheart
Third graders in Mrs. Lisa New’s science classes have been learning all about rain forests and the different kinds of animals who live in a rain forest habitat. Based on their own research, the students created brochures about rain forest animals and enjoyed reading the brochures as part of their “rain forest readaround.” The students also made rain forest frogs and created rain forest dioramas by layers. #westfieldthirdgrade #handsonlearning #collaborativelearning
Fifth graders not only dressed up to celebrate reading the book Schooled, they also completed their roller coaster projects. Students have been learning about inertia, speed, velocity, force, and motion in Mrs. Shelley Greer’s science classes, and this STEM project allowed students to work collaboratively using their creative skills and science knowledge to see how roller coasters really work! #collaborativelearning #handsonlearning #science #STEM
We can’t think of a more creative way to learn the systems of the human body than by writing your own song lyrics...and performing it for your classmates! Seventh graders in Mrs. Leigh Ann Champions’s life science classes worked collaboratively to write their own lyrics to help them review how the human body works! Here are a few for you to enjoy... #collaborativelearning #creativethinking #science #middleschool #educationofmindandheart
Congratulations to our Students of the Quarter - Ayan Patel, fifth grade, and Brant Beckham, eighth grade! They were recognized by the Perry Chamber of Commerce for being outstanding students and leaders! We are Westfield proud!
