Today’s post is a salute to Westfield’s 1975 Hornet and Lady Hornet varsity basketball teams. Over the year’s we have had many successful seasons, but 1975 is undeniably the most significant for both teams. During this pivotal year, the varsity boys' team defeated the Stratford Eagles 69-67 in the Hornets’ Nest to win the SEAIS AA State Championship (Westfield’s first and only basketball state title). Under the leadership of Coach Lee Martin, the team finished the season with an overall record of 25-6. Also during this monumental season, the Lady Hornets clinched the Region Championship with a 44-33 win over the Fullington Lady Trojans. Coached by the late Percy Hardy, the team finished the season with a 20-7 record as state runners up. Join us tonight in the Hornets’ Nest as we recognize these winning teams during our varsity basketball games. #throwbackthursday #50yearsofwestfield #westfieldbasketball

We are Westfield proud! #westfieldchess

Move over Super Bowl, students in our 8th grade technology class are participating in the "Typing Bowl". We are still in the “type- offs” right now, so it has been very tense and exciting! What a great way to master keyboarding! #interactivelearning #technology #educationofmindandheart

We are Westfield proud of our Upper School art students who participated in this year's Perry Student Art Show! Chanyn Chapman and Aaron Cross received honorable mention for their work. #westfieldart #westfieldproud
We are Westfield proud of our Middle School basketball teams! Our girls team, coached by Chip Champion, reached the semi-finals of the Middle School tournament in a tough loss by only two points to Tattnall. The boys' team, coached by Ryan Wetherington, had a strong season, overcoming illnesses and injuries. Even though the area tournament is over, our Middle School teams have two more games left: January 27th at Southland and January 30th at home vs Southland (games at 6 and 7 pm). Great job, Middle School Lady Hornets and Hornets! #westfieldbasketball
