The season of Thanksgiving is here. Our Upper School Key Club is collecting 500 cans of cranberry sauce for Perry Volunteer Outreach to provide Christmas meals for those in need in our community. Donation boxes are in our Upper School and Arts & Sciences building. Westfield is participating in KidsGive again this year, helping to make Christmas merrier for 64 children in our community. KidsGive gifts are due by November 30th. These are wonderful opportunities not only to serve our community but also teachable moments to help our students develop servant hearts. We are thankful to serve our community!

Fall sports are in still in play as our varsity football team travels to Tattnall tomorrow night for the second round of the GIAA state playoffs and our clay target shooting team heads to Savannah for the GIAA state meet. Winter sports began this week with our JV and varsity swim team’s first meet in Tifton and Middle School basketball team tipping off in the Hornets’ Nest. Warm wishes for a safe and happy Thanksgiving. We look forward to seeing everyone back on campus on Monday, November 28th.
Happy Thanksgiving from Pre-K!
Our Pre-K students performed a very special Thanksgiving program, sharing Bible verses, poems, and songs to help us celebrate this special season! We are so proud of these little ones for taking the stage and giving such a wonderful performance! Special thanks to our Pre-K teachers and teaching assistants and also to We Do Photography for the photos! #westfieldtraditions #thanksgiving #westfieldprek #prekonstage #educationofmindandheart

Third graders in Mrs. Lisa New’s science classes mixed art and science to learn about fish printing and painting. This traditional form of Japanese art, known as gyotaku, began over 100 years by fishermen to keep a record or proof of the fish they caught and the size of the fish. #handsonlearning #westfieldthirdgrade #educationofmindandheart
Fifth graders in Mrs. Shelley Greer’s science classes tested out the effectiveness of different bird “beaks” at picking up different types of food by using their own “beaks”. #handsonlearning #collaborativelearning #westfieldfifthgrade #educationofmindandheart
Westfield welcomed a special guest this week - Pastor Julio Cruz from Lima, Peru. Pastor Julio is visiting third grade teacher, Mrs. Christy Grantham, and her husband, Reverend Dr. David Grantham ‘79, senior pastor of Pinecrest Baptist Church in Cordele. He visited several of our Lower and Upper School Spanish classes throughout the day, sharing with students about his work and ministry in Peru and some of the similarities and differences in Peruvian and American culture. Students in every grade level had the opportunity to ask questions in Spanish and converse with Pastor Julio. Thank you for visiting our school today! #westfieldforeignlanguage #learningcultures

We are Westfield proud of two of our Lady Hornet soccer players, Mariela Padilla and Isabelle Dehem, who were selected to the U.S. Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program for the State of Georgia a second year in a row! Each tried out next to over 100 talented athletes from all over the State.

The U.S. Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program identifies the TOP State and National youth soccer players and further develops them for future opportunities to be part of the regional and national soccer pools and teams, as well as college level soccer teams.
