Our fourth grade students have been immersed in the study of the Colonial America - not only the history, but also the guiding principles of the time. They have learned that freedom is not free, and that many lives have been sacrificed so that we may enjoy the freedoms we have in our country. Today, our students stepped back into the 18th century as Patriot children. Take a peek at their day! Special thanks to our fourth grade teachers, enrichment teachers, volunteers, and demonstrators for making this such a special day of learning. #WhyAmericaisFree #patriotsday #westfieldfourthgrade #educationofmindandheart
Second graders in Mrs. Jessica Roberts' class have been learning about government and voting. They participated in a mock election with a real classroom issue, voting on whether to have the treasure box weekly or biweekly. Mrs. Roberts campaigned by giving pros and cons for each. The students had voter registration cards, ballots, and a voting booth! After the election, they tallied the votes and created a bar graph which they have been studying in math. Biweekly won! #handsonlearning #educationofmindandheart
Will a pumpkin sink or will it float? Kindergarten students in Ms. Angie McKinley and Ms. Macy Hamlin’s class had so much fun finding out! After their experiment, they carved the pumpkin for their own jack o’lantern!
Fifth graders in Mrs. Shelley Greer’s class mixed a little bit of Halloween fun into their science lesson. The students dissolved candy corn in different liquids and also tested water temperatures to determine which one would make a glow stick shine the brightest. #westfieldfifthgrade #science #collaborativelearning
Environmental Science students in Mrs. Melissa Smith’s class painted pumpkins reflecting the different biomes they have been studying. The students completed research projects on a biome and presented to their classmates. #environmentalscience #biomes #paintingpumpkins #westfieldupperschool #educationofmindandheart #artandscience
Upper School Foreign Language Club members had the opportunity to hear from one of their own during club assembly this week. Senior Nevaeh Bohannon shared information and photos from her visit to Spain this summer. Thank you, Nevaeh, for sharing about your travel experience! #westfieldforeignlanguage
Don't miss our upcoming performance of The Big Bad Musical on Tuesday, November 8th at 6:30 pm in the Recital Hall. This fun-filled musical tells the story of a courtroom that has never been livelier and more fun! The jury — our audience — must decide the outcome of the biggest trial ever in the fairy-tale world! The cast features students from 5th grade through Upper School. Hope to see you November 8th for "jury duty" in The Big Bad Musical!
Sixth graders in Mrs. Kayce Slade's Christian Ethics class spoke to younger students in our first, second, and third grade classes about peer pressure and what the Bible says about it. We are proud of our Middle School students for being mentors for our younger students and by sharing God's Word and encouraging Christ-like behavior. #blessingsofaprekto12campus #educationofmindandheart

These seniors are participating in “No Shave November” and will not be required to shave until November 30th. Two boys will be selected to keep their beards through the month of December - one selected based on the most money raised and the other based on a vote by the senior class for the best facial hair. All proceeds will benefit the Macy Easom Cancer Research Foundation. #noshavenovember #servingourcommunity
