Hello Westfield families!
Our 2019-2020 school year is now in full swing, and we want to make sure you feel prepared and informed. Whether your family is new to Westfield or you have been a Westfield parent for many years, we hope you will join us for a special Westfield Q&A meeting, hosted by the WFO, on Tuesday, August 20th! You may come to either the 8:15 am or the 6:15 pm session. Both sessions will be held in the Arts & Sciences Building - Recital Hall. #wfo #westfieldqanda
Have you spotted the new art all over our campus?! A huge thank you to our very own art teacher Karen Ray for spending her entire summer creating color and art everywhere at Westfield!
Want to know what’s on the menu in the Westfield cafeteria? Check out the FLIK menu website and be sure to download the Nutrislice app via Apple Store or Google Play. Students may register for the meal plan at any time. Click here for more information.
The 2019-2020 school year marks Westfield’s 50th Anniversary! To help us celebrate, we will be sharing special stories, pictures, memories, etc. throughout the year and we need your help. Please share your Westfield story with us! Is there a teacher or coach who made an impact on your life? A special moment or funny memory that stands out to you? Please submit your story to [email protected] or shoot us a Facebook message. We’ll collect and share them as we celebrate 50 years of excellence.

This week's post is a salute to the original Board of Trustees. Without their determination and perseverance, Westfield would not be here today! #throwbackthursday #50yearsofwestfield

Saving Fred is a great way for third graders in Mrs. Lisa New’s science classes to learn the scientific method. Students were given a lab sheet and materials with the task of putting Fred the worm (who fell out of boat and can’t swim) back into his life preserver without using their hands. They could use paper clips. We love hands on learning! #STEMlearning #educationofmindandheart #handsonlearning
Check out this neat STEM activity for Middle School students in Mrs. April Holmes' technology classes! Following different steps of the problem solving process, the students designed two aluminum foil boats to see how many pennies each could possibly hold while floating in water with a goal of having the second boat hold more pennies than the first. This type of classroom activity is an example of the hands-on learning that students in grades 4 through 8 will be doing in the soon-to-be completed STEM activity room! #STEMlearning #problemsolving #criticalthinking #handsonlearning
That's what it's all about! Pre-K students in Mrs. Tiffany Paris' class are having so much fun (and learning to follow directions) doing the Hokey Pokey! #playwithpurpose
Congratulations to the following 11th grade students who have been selected to represent Westfield in the Perry Chamber of Commerce's Perry Youth Leadership Program for 2019-2020: JB Bearden, Lauren Black, Brooke Corlee, Mary Caroline Crook, Lindsey Easom, Andrew Fowler, Meg Hiley, Kaleigh Isgett, Faith Johnson, Kerri Ann Lawson, Landon Waller, Emily West, and Walker Young. #buildingleaders
The Westfield Family Organization (WFO) is the avenue for parents to be involved at Westfield through a central organization. There is always an opportunity to help with the Annual Fund, assist students in shopping at the Book Fair, decorate for open house, provide refreshments or decorations for special events, and assist with welcoming new families to our school. WFO volunteers show our students the importance of giving time back to our school as adults. The WFO includes several committees that facilitate annual events and coordinate various projects.

All parents are invited to WFO meetings. The next meeting will be held Tuesday, September 10th at 8:05 am in the Arts & Sciences building - Recital Hall. We hope to see you there!
The Spirit Shop has lots of new merchandise, so be sure to stop and pick up some new Westfield gear! The Spirit Shop will be open on Tuesdays from 2:30 until 3:30 pm, Fridays from 7:45 from 8:30am, and during home football games. More volunteers are needed to work in the Spirit Shop. Parents be sure to download the new Box Tops app and help us raise money for Westfield! The new and improved Box Tops mobile app uses state-of-the-art technology to scan your store receipt, find participating products, and instantly add Box Tops to your school’s earnings online. Download the app via Apple Store or Google Play . Once you download the app, sign up for a Box Tops account and select Westfield School. Traditional Box Tops clips are being phased out of production, but may continue to be found on many products throughout the store. You may still clip and bring these to school.
Fall sports are underway! Ballgames and athletic events are for the entire family, so be sure to come out to the Hornets' Nest to cheer on our football, softball, cheer, and cross country teams! Season passes may not be used for away games or GISA region or state playoff games (either home or away). The passes are payable by check or cash or may be charged to your Westfield account.
