Thank You for Helping Westfield Red Out for Heart!
Over $2,500 Raised
Thank you to all who supported the Red Out sponsored by our Senior Beta Club. Your generosity by donating monies and buying t-shirts helped raise $2508.30 for the American Heart Association! #redout2020 #hornetshaveheart
Today's throwback is a salute to Westfield's Red Out. Originated in 2013, "Red Out" was created in honor of student, Tucker Moody '15, who collapsed from cardiac arrest during a varsity basketball game. Through the efforts of our athletic trainer and a physician from the visitor stands, Tucker was revived and later underwent open heart surgery, where he made a full recovery. Deeply impacted by this event, our students and staff wanted to hold an event in Tucker's honor that would create awareness about heart disease and raise funds for the American Heart Association; thus "Red Out" was born. Each year, our Senior Beta Club leads this initiative by sharing heart facts, collecting donations, and encouraging everyone to wear red to school and to a home basketball game. In addition, our WFO Spirit Shop sells special Red Out shirts and donates a portion of their proceeds. This Tuesday, we held our eighth annual Red Out, and thanks to your generosity we raised $2,508.30. Since the initial Red Out in 2013, Westfield has donated over $17,000 to the American Heart Association. We are grateful that Red Out has become a Westfield tradition that not only creates awareness about heart health and facts about heart disease, but also teaches our students about generosity and compassion for others. #throwbackthursday #50yearsofwestfield #educationofmindandheart #redout
Congratulations to senior Elizabeth Gentry who was named Westfield's 2020 STAR student! Elizabeth was honored at the Houston County STAR Student/Teacher Banquet, sponsored by the Perry Chamber and the Robins Regional Chamber , and was one of three STAR students selected as Houston County STAR Students. She selected Mrs. Anna Caulley, AP French, as her STAR teacher. Elizabeth and Mrs. Caulley, along with the other students and their teachers, will attend the Region STAR banquet to be held in March. To be named a school winner, high school seniors must have the highest score on a single test date on the SAT and must be in the top 10 percent or top 10 students of their class based on grade point average. Each STAR student selects a STAR teacher who has been the most influential in his or her academic success. Congratulations, Elizabeth and Mrs. Caulley! We are Westfield proud! #starstudent #starteacher #westfieldproud

From fun card games to fitness to outdoor grilling, juggling, flag football, and art, our Middle and Upper School students are having a great week exploring and learning! This week of mini-enrichment classes, taught by Westfield faculty, gives students the opportunity to explore, discover, and learn about a variety of topics outside of traditional classroom courses and teaching methods. The primary reason for “Explore!” week is to promote a love of learning. We believe that lifelong learning is going to be even more important for our current students than it has been for the previous generations. The technological progress and interdependence of the global economy indicates that successful people will need to be adaptable and resilient. Individuals are better suited for the resilience and adaptability as they learn to enjoy and even delight in learning new things. This type of school enrichment program is designed to help students develop new interests and hobbies which help them learn independently and also to encourage life-long learning. #EXPLOREweek2020 #findingnewhobbies #learningnewskills

The safety and security of our students, faculty, staff and guests are very important to all of us! When driving on campus, please follow our drop off and pick procedures as outlined in the links below for safety purposes and to help traffic move as safely and efficiently as possible. We ask that you please drive slowly and safely, and encourage others (especially if you have Upper School students who are driving) to do the same.
