Hello Westfield families!
Don't miss this week's Westfield Weekly! From state champion wrestlers to national signing day to Explore week and chess tournaments, our students are doing great things! Our varsity girls' basketball team will play for the Region Championship tomorrow night at 7 pm at Pinewood! And, we have information about our upcoming WFO Chili Cook Off and also a winter play about pirates! It's great to be a Westfield Hornet!
National Chili Day is February 28th, and the Westfield Family Organization (WFO) is sponsoring a Chili Cook-Off for all Westfield families! Bring your best pot off chili to see whose is best or just come and be a judge! WFO will provide hot dogs, chips, and drinks. Come out for some great chili and family fun! This week, our Middle and Upper School students are discovering and learning about a variety of topics outside of traditional classroom courses and teaching methods through Explore! Led by Westfield faculty, Explore is designed to encourage students to develop new interests and hobbies and help them embrace life-long learning. From CPR and Rue Goldberg projects to golf and card games to chess, grilling, movies, relaxation, and kick ball to Zumba, our Middle and Upper School students are having a great time at Explore Week! #exploreweek #westfieldexplore

Congratulations to J.B. Carroll and Joshua Rainey for representing Westfield in the GISA Middle School spelling bee!
Congratulations to our Middle School chess teams! Westfield's team of Daniel Gentry, J.B. Carroll, Reid Black, and Luke Caulley finished 2nd overall in the state at the GICAA State Chess Tournament. Three Westfield students were undefeated at the tournament: Daniel Gentry and Nicholas Ballinger (Middle School competition) and Conner Shelton (High School competition). The chess team is coached by Mr. Erin Wood. Great job, Westfield chess teams!
The deadline for 11th grade students to register for the April 9 administration of the SAT School Day is Friday, February 8. Extra registration forms are available on Ms. Jackie Almand's (Director of College Counseling) office door.
Registration is now open for the Perry Rotary Club Speech Contest. Any high school age student may compete by preparing and delivering a 3-4 minute speech on one of two Rotary topics. Deadline to enter is Friday, March 1st at 12 noon. The winner of the Perry contest wins $100, and the winner for the zone area wins a $1000 scholarship. Details available on Ms. Jackie Almand's (Director of College Counseling) office door.

Drama Department to Present
13 Signs You Should Stop Being a Pirate
a fun, family-friendly show on February 21 & 22

Westfield's drama department will present  13 Signs You Should Stop Being a Pirate  by A.M. Dittman Thursday and Friday, February 21 and 22, at 7:30 p.m. in the Recital Hall of the Arts and Sciences Building. The story follows a young pirate who is having second thoughts about her pirating ways. As she tries to persuade her crew members to a more genteel way of life, problems ensue.

The show stars Shelby Euler as the young pirate Jaime with Charles Cartwright as Captain Bones. Other cast members include Leeanna Allen, Filipe Dantas, Faith Johnston, Jacob Nelson, Eva Catherine Parnell, Mahi Patel, Carly Schwelling, Katie Stuart, and Emily West as the pirate crew.

This is a family-friendly show which promises lots of laughs. All young audience members are encourage to dress in their pirate best!There is no admission charge for the performance.
