What a Difference a Toonie Makes!

This week's rollover winner is Linda, who took home an incredible $36,669!

Linda played her toonie at Recardo's on Peggy's Cove Road and, while she couldn't remember exactly how long she's been playing, she said it's been a long time. This week, her loyalty to the game certainly paid off!

When Linda received the call, she wasn't having the best day, so the news couldn't have come at a better time.

Linda and her husband, George, are preparing to sell their home and recently learned they'll need to install a new septic system before putting it on the market. Linda said the win will be a huge help with the unexpected expense and the repairs needed to get the property ready for sale.

Linda also shared that she loves playing her toonie each week, knowing that the proceeds go right back into supporting local community organizations.

Honorarium Spotlight:

Tantallon Citizens on Patrol

Keeping our community safe takes teamwork — and the Tantallon Citizens on Patrol (CoP) is helping lead the way. This dedicated group of volunteers works closely with the RCMP, serving as extra eyes and ears in the community to help deter crime and promote public safety.

CoP volunteers donate just a few hours of their time each month, receive training and complete background checks before getting involved. It's a meaningful and accessible way for residents to support their community and make a positive impact.

In addition to community patrols, members participate in training opportunities, attend local events and support initiatives that help make our neighbourhoods safer. The group also continues to advocate for traffic safety measures, including fundraising efforts to bring additional speed radar signs to the area.

New volunteers are always welcome. If you're looking for a practical way to give back and help keep our communities safe, consider joining the Citizens on Patrol program.

Lions Eyeglass Recycling Centers collect, clean and redistribute donated eyeglasses to people in need around the world. Even broken glasses can help — materials are recycled, and the proceeds support local community projects.

And here's something to feel good about: 100% of donations to Lions clubs go directly to charitable causes.

Drop off your used eyeglasses, reading glasses or sunglasses at a Lions collection point near you.

Skip the Sticker Stack

Made a mistake with your toonie sticker? No problem. Please don't place one sticker over another.

If you need to make a change, simply use a new sticker. Stacked stickers can be difficult for our volunteers to read and may slow down processing.

Rock the Stage this August with

Unicorn Theatre's "School of Rock"

Students in Grades 4 to 12 are invited to join Unicorn Theatre's Musical Theatre Weekend production of "School of Rock" from Aug. 21 to 23.

Based on the popular movie starring Jack Black, the show follows an unlikely teacher who inspires his students through the power of rock 'n' roll.

The weekend camp runs from Friday to Sunday, ending with a performance for family and friends at 5 p.m. on Aug. 23. Directed by Millie Madden and David Mikhaelov, the camp costs $75.
