Greeting & Announcements
Collect prayer of Kirk Loadman adapted by Debra Mooney, PhD
Call to Worship Galatians 3:23-29
- Before faith came, we were imprisoned and guarded under the law until faith would be revealed. The law was our disciplinarian until Christ came, so that we might be justified by faith.
- For we belong to Christ!
- And now that faith has come, we are no longer subject to a disciplinarian, for in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith.
- For we belong to Christ!
- You were baptized into Christ and have clothed yourselves with Christ.
- For we belong to Christ!
- There is no longer Jew or Greek, there is no longer slave or free, there is no longer male and female; for all of you are one.
- For we belong to Christ!
- We are Abraham's offspring, and heirs according to the promise.
- For we belong to Christ! Amen.
Opening Hymn #57, St. 1-5: "O For a Thousand Tongues to Sing;" Tune: Azmon; Words and music: Public domain
- O for a thousand tongues to sing my great Redeemer's praise, the glories of my God and King, the triumphs of his grace!
- My gracious Master and my God, assist me to proclaim, to spread through all the earth abroad the honors of thy name.
- Jesus! the name that charms our fears, that bids our sorrows cease; 'tis music in the sinner's ears, 'tis life, and health, and peace.
- He breaks the power of canceled sin, he sets the prisoner free; his blood can make the foulest clean; his blood availed for me.
- He speaks, and listening to his voice, new life the dead receive; the mournful, broken hearts rejoice, the humble poor believe.

Children's Message
Sermon
Sermon Hymn: "In Christ There Is No East or West;" Tune: McKee; Words and music: Public domain
- In Christ there is no east or west, In Him no south or north, But one great fellowship of love Throughout the whole wide earth.
- In Christ shall true hearts ev'rywhere Their high communion find; His service is the golden cord Close binding humankind.
- Join hands disciples of the faith, Whate'er your race may be! All children of the living God Are surely kin to me.
- In Christ now meet both east and west; In Him meet south and north; All Christly souls are one in Him Throughout the whole wide earth.
The Baptismal Covenant
Baptism Hymn #608: "This Is the Spirit’s Entry Now;" Tune: Azmon; Words and music: One License #A-727358
- This is the Spirit's entry now: the water and the word, the cross of Jesus on your brow, the seal both felt and heard.
- Let water be the sacred sign that we must die each day, to rise again by his design as followers of his way.
- Renewing Spirit, hear our praise for your baptismal power that washes us through all our days. Lord, cleanse again this hour.
The Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
Pastoral Prayer
The Lord's Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done; on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Offering
Doxology #2223, St. 4: by Peter Scholtes; Words and music: One License #A-727358
-
Words: All praise to the Father, from whom all things come. And all praise to Christ Jesus, God's only Son. And all praise to the Spirit, who makes us one. And they'll know we are Christians by our love, by our love. Yes, they'll know we are Christians by our love.
Closing Hymn #2051: "I Was There to Hear Your Borning Cry;" Tune: Waterlife; Words and music: One License #A-727358
- "I was there to hear your borning cry, I'll be there when you are old. I rejoiced the day you were baptized, to see your life unfold.
- I was there when you were but a child, with a faith to suit you well; in a blaze of light you wandered off to find where demons dwell.
- "When you heard the wonder of the Word I was there to cheer you on; you were raised to praise the living Lord, to whom you now belong.
- If you find someone to share your time and you join your hearts as one, I'll be there to make your verses rhyme from dusk till rising sun.
- "In the middle ages of your life, not too old, no longer young, I'll be there to guide you through the night, complete what I've begun.
- When the evening gently closes in and you shut your weary eyes, I'll be there as I have always been with just one more surprise.
- "I was there to hear your borning cry, I'll be there when you are old. I rejoiced the day you were baptized, to see your life unfold."
Benediction
