This week in worship, the 3rd Sunday in our season of Advent, we will hear what is one of the most dear and meaningful passages in the story of Jesus. The angel Gabriel visits Mary, a young unwed woman, and declares she will be the one to bear the “Son of the Most High.” We often focus on the seemingly miraculous news of a “virgin birth,” but what if that’s not the main surprise? Could the table-turning news be that God chooses to be born to the precious ordinary? Let us consider Mary’s response. She is “much perplexed” by the angel’s greeting. Is she aware that being “favoured by God” does not necessarily mean a life of ease, happiness, and prosperity by this world’s standards? Could the big miracle be Mary’s faith? Join or tune in this week to behold this fierce woman of faith and to anticipate the good news of a God who is born to you and all.

See you Sunday!
