Program Update

Food & Nutrition Spotlight

Powered by supporters like you, our client-choice pantry distributes 650,000 pounds of food and serves 600+ households each month – saving families an average of $450 in costs, helping prevent homelessness. Ways to support this month:

  • World Hunger Day (May 28): Please give today during our Matching Gift Challenge to double your impact to help those facing hunger, homelessness and trauma in our community.
  • CalFresh Awareness Month: Share this free resource with neighbors who may need extra food support – learn more at getcalfresh.org/apply or contact our Social Services team for assistance.

Turning Awareness Into Action for Mental Health

This Mental Health Awareness Month, our CEO John Van Cleef shares how May is a time to reflect, connect and take meaningful steps toward mental well-being. John shares, "It's imperative that we continue to normalize conversations around mental health, treating it with the same importance and compassion as physical health."

The Latest News

Point-in-Time Count Results

We’re encouraged to see rates of homelessness drop by 7% regionwide, according to the 2025 Point-in-Time Count by the Regional Task Force on Homelessness. Within our service area, Encinitas saw a 26% reduction in unsheltered individuals (12.3% overall) and Carlsbad saw 9.8% (15.3% overall). This progress is thanks to collaboration at every level – from outreach and housing to wrap-around support.

Yet, with senior homelessness rising and too many living in vehicles, we’ll continue strengthening supportive services and working with local landlords so more neighbors have a safe place to call home.
