Director's Corner
Dear UPK Families,
As we begin a new year, I want to first extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has reached out to support Uni Pres Kindercottage through prayer, encouragement, and continued partnership. These are uncertain times as governmental decisions continue to shape the landscape of early childhood education, but one thing remains clear: affordable, safe, and healthy child care is not only vital to families—it is essential to the strength of our economy and the stability of our community.
Your ongoing support truly makes a difference. Together, we are building pathways toward change, rooted in love, service, and care for those who need it most. We are deeply thankful to walk this journey with such a compassionate and committed community.
As we move into the heart of winter, our children will be joyfully exploring the season through lessons on winter animals, weather, and the importance of caring for ourselves and one another. Our classrooms will be filled with hands-on activities that promote social-emotional growth, cognitive development, and physical wellness, helping each child continue to thrive during these colder months.
We are also excited to welcome back the University of Illinois, who will be resuming family cooking classes—a wonderful opportunity for families to learn, connect, and build healthy habits together.
Please remember to visit our website, where we have updated our list of urgent needs, including toiletries and children’s pull-ups in various sizes. These items directly support the daily care and dignity of the children and families we serve.
Thank you for your compassion, generosity, and unwavering commitment to our mission. Together, we will continue to move forward in greater care for our precious children and the families who depend on us.
With gratitude for all you do,
Aimee Washington-Hart
