Leading with Vision: A Message from FWC Chair Ginger Gardner, MD, FACOG

I couldn’t be more excited to share the Foundation for Women’s Cancer’s new strategic plan with you! This isn’t just a roadmap, it’s a reflection of our shared purpose. We’re educating patients in bold new ways, championing awareness and equity, inspiring research that saves lives, engaging our community through movement and fundraising, and catalyzing real change through advocacy. Every step we take is with you and for you!

Our Five Strategic Domains in Action

At the Foundation for Women’s Cancer, we believe strategy should be more than a document, it should show up in our programs, our partnerships, and the ways we uplift you. Here’s how each of our strategic focus areas comes to life this year and how you can be part of the momentum.

Educate

Patient & Advocate Education Forum September 13 | Washington, D.C.

We know that knowledge is power, especially when it comes to gynecologic cancers. That’s why we're hosting a Patient & Advocate Education Forum during Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month, offering direct access to leading experts, practical sessions on topics like sexual health and nutrition, and real conversations with other survivors and advocates. This free, one-day event is a cornerstone of our commitment to making cancer education empowering and accessible.

Registration is open now—come join us in D.C.!

Championing Public Awareness & Health Equity

#MoveTheMessage with the WNBA and Community Health Worker Training

Chicago, IL

We’re expanding awareness where it matters most. In July, the FWC launched our 2025 #MoveTheMessage campaign in Chicago on July 14 at the Chicago Sky vs. MN Lynx WNBA game. This year the FWC's gynecologic cancer awareness activations will bring our message directly to other WNBA communities, with the NY Liberty on August 28, and the Seattle Storm on September 5.

Also on the horizon, the second iteration of the FWC Community Health Worker (CHW) Gynecologic Cancer Training Program is expanding this September to equip CHWs serving Chicago’s South Side with the tools to advocate, educate, and uplift, because championing equity means meeting people where they are.

Inspire

Fueling the Future of Gynecologic Cancer Research

Research saves lives, and we’re committed to ensuring the next breakthrough has the funding it needs. In September, we’re opening our Research Grant Call for Applications, but in the meantime, we encourage you to explore the stories of past recipients whose work is advancing care and deepening our understanding of gynecologic cancers.

Engage

#Move4Her Returns!

We’re back in motion this September with #Move4Her at the Race to End Women’s Cancer in Washington, D.C. Come join us on Sunday, September 14, 2025, for an exciting day of movement and impact. You can choose to run the timed 5K or walk the one-mile route—either way, every step helps to honor survivors, uplift those currently in treatment, and remember the lives we’ve lost.

You can also participate in our ongoing virtual fitness challenge. We encourage you to check if a 2025 Move4Her event is being planned in your local community. If not, consider hosting an event yourself for family and friends. Whether you host a walk, a bike ride, a summer dance gathering, or golf outing, pick your own adventure and join our #Move4Her community of gyn cancer supporters!

In September the FWC will also acknowledge Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month (GCAM), an opportunity to spread awareness and education about gynecologic cancers.

We encourage you to engage in any one of our upcoming events to keep the momentum going!

Catalyze

Advocacy in Action: From the Summit to the Community

In September, we're convening advocates, providers, and survivors at our Patient Advocacy Organizational Summit. This Summit will bring together leaders from gynecologic oncology advocacy organizations to engage, share insights, and discuss opportunities to collaborate and align efforts to advance the well-being of patients, survivors, and their caregivers everywhere.
