  • Convene at the North State Together Summit in Spring 2022 for county networks to receive training on StriveTogether Theory of Action Framework, enhance coalition building, and support county-based work
  • Send cohort of NST team, county leadership and partners to National StriveTogether Convening, Fall 2022, to learn from other collaboratives and engage with other partnerships doing similar work
  • Convene at the North State Together Summit in conjunction with the launch of Community Leadership Center in Summer 2023 to enhance coalition building, expand stakeholders, and share progress achieved
  • Explore Pathways to Equity through StriveTogether framework and develop localized strategies to address diversity, equity and inclusion at county and program levels.
  • Implement county-based capacity building plans and coaching strategies to empower work of the county networks, Spring 2022 through Summer 2023

A special thank you to Dr. Kate Mahar, Executive Director of SCAILE, for lending grant writing expertise to support North State Together and SCAILE's work in our region.

Community Schools: Funding the Whole Child
In 2020-2021, the Shasta County Office of Education (SCOE) received 3 million, the largest amount awarded by the State, from the California Community Schools Partnership Program. SCOE applied as a county consortium that includes districts in the county that were 80% or more free and reduced lunch.

But this is just the tip of the iceberg for future funding. California recently passed a $3 billion investment in the Community Schools model, and a significant amount of community schools funding is expected to come down from the federal level. Community schools are defined as “strong and intentional community partnerships ensuring pupil learning and whole child and family development". Grant funding can be applied for by schools and LEA's and may be used for expanding and sustaining existing community schools, coordinating and providing health, mental health, and pupil support services to pupils and families, and providing training and support to local educational agency personnel.

North State Together is committed to assist our region's schools and LEA's prepare to act on Community Schools state and federal funding. The following Federal Grant Seeking Webinar Series brought to you by our national network, StriveTogether, will focus on tactical orientation and strategies for full-service community schools. To register for one or more sessions of the series, email jspielmann@shastacollege.edu or register in your StriveTogether portal account.
