Start Strong, Stay Strong

Last month, we launched our Start Strong, Stay Strong Campaign with an ambitious but necessary goal: raising $43,000 to help local families build lasting stability and opportunity.

In the month of May,

we raised $10,571!

We're grateful for every donor who has stepped forward. But with only a portion of our goal reached, we're asking for your help to close the gap and ensure families in Skagit County have the support they need to thrive.

At Community Action, nearly 70% of the people we serve are families with children. Every day, parents work hard to provide for their families while navigating challenges like housing instability, rising costs, food insecurity, and barriers to employment. That’s why we’re investing in a Whole Family Approach.

Through our Whole Family Approach, Community Action partners with families to build a stronger future. Your gift helps:

  • Parents find pathways to better jobs and higher incomes.
  • Children grow up in stable, supportive environments.
  • Families access safe housing, food, and critical resources.

When families start strong, they are more likely to stay strong and that benefits our entire community.

Kulshan Vista Village Groundbreaking

We recently celebrated the groundbreaking of Kulshan Vista Village, a new affordable housing development that will provide stable homes for families in Skagit County.

In partnership with the Mount Vernon School District, Phase One will create 24 family-oriented apartments for households earning 30–60% of Area Median Income, with priority given to families experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

Round Up for Families at ACE Hardware of Anacortes

Throughout June, customers at ACE Hardware of Anacortes can 'Round Up' their purchases at checkout. Ace’s own employees have benefited from the assistance that we provide. The proceeds from your small donations go to Community Action’s Resource center here in Anacortes as well as the Food Distribution Center, the Veterans programs here in the valley and countless other programs that help out community.

We're especially grateful to Annie and Randy, owners of ACE Hardware of Anacortes, and their incredible team for choosing to support local families through this partnership. Their commitment to serving the community extends far beyond the walls of their store.

Whether you're picking up supplies for a summer project, or simply stopping in to shop local, every Rounded-Up purchase helps strengthen families right here in Anacortes.
