Now Open! A New 24/7 Lifeline for New Yorkers in Crisis
When someone is experiencing emotional distress, uncertainty, or a mental health or substance use crisis, having a safe place to turn can change everything. That’s why Services for the UnderServed is proud to open the first-of-its-kind crisis center in New York City. The Supportive Crisis Stabilization Center (SCSC) is a welcoming, living room‑style environment designed to help adults, youth, and families find immediate support, grounding, and connection.
Open 24/7, the SCSC offers a calm, healing space where individuals can pause, breathe, and receive compassionate care from mental health professionals, nurses, and peer specialists.

Located at 2862 Fulton Street in Brooklyn, the SCSC is easily accessible by public transit and open to anyone seeking immediate mental health or substance use support.
Whether someone is overwhelmed, navigating a difficult moment, or unsure where to go next, the SCSC provides dignified, judgment‑free support without the pressure of a hospital setting.
And for individuals who may benefit from a longer, voluntary stay in a peaceful, home‑like setting, we also operate Crisis Residences, offering short‑term stabilization and 24/7 peer support.

Employee Recognition Isn’t Just an Event, It’s an Experience
Employee Recognition shouldn’t be a once‑a‑year ceremony, it should be a meaningful experience that strengthens culture every day. In her recent Forbes piece, Margaret‑Ann Cole, Chief HR & People Officer, argues for designing employee recognition experiences that actually reinforce culture—intentional, inclusive, and built to last.
Ms. Cole highlights three essentials for employee recognition celebrations:
- Design with intention so every element reinforces the behaviors your organization values.
- Build fair, inclusive nomination processes that broaden visibility and trust.
- Extend the impact with everyday practices that keep recognition alive long after the event ends.
When recognition becomes part of the everyday rhythm, people feel seen, valued, and connected.

New Funding Boosts Housing Stability for NYC Families
Services for the UnderServed has received a $250,000 Housing for Everyone grant from the TD Charitable Foundation—one of only six New York organizations selected this year. The grant strengthens our Homebase program, which helps families avoid eviction through housing counseling, landlord mediation, benefits access, and rapid crisis support. This funding enables us to expand staffing, increase capacity, and respond more quickly to New Yorkers facing eviction or housing instability.
Homebase plays a vital role in keeping families stably housed by intervening early, reducing shelter entries, and helping households maintain the security and stability they need to thrive.
We are honored to be recognized among this year’s grantees and remain committed to ensuring that New Yorkers have the support they need to remain safely in their homes.
