Greetings!

Over the past year, the number of older adults who turn to the Great Plains Food Bank and our partners has grown. Recent cuts to federal funding are creating another layer of hardship, putting an even greater burden on households already struggling to make ends meet.

This challenge is especially true for older adults living on fixed incomes. Each day brings impossible choices: pay for vital medication or buy groceries, heat their homes on cold winter nights or stock their cupboards. No one — especially our older neighbors who have given so much to our communities — should ever have to face such decisions.

The Great Plains Food Bank remains steadfast in our commitment to ensure older adults across North Dakota and Clay County, Minnesota, have reliable access to the nutritious food they need. But the Great Plains Food Bank cannot do it alone. Your support makes this work possible! As you read through this edition of Feeding Hope, you’ll see the profound impact your generosity has on the lives of older adults facing hunger right in our own communities.

The need is growing, and the time to act is now. Every gift you share helps us put food on the table for our neighbors who might otherwise go without — older adults, children and families. Your generosity is more than a meal — it is dignity, comfort, and hope for our neighbors in need.

Thank you for standing with the Great Plains Food Bank. With your continued support, the Great Plains Food Bank will remain a lifeline for our neighbors experiencing food insecurity, proving that when we come together, compassion always prevails.

Remember, every $1 you give provides food for 2 meals for our neighbors facing hunger. Even the smallest gift can make a big difference for older adults in need across North Dakota and Clay County, Minnesota.

Thank you!

Retirement for Duane and his wife was a quiet routine, supported by Social Security and a pension from the electric union. That changed when their two young grandchildren, ages 5 and 7, came to live with them. Suddenly, their peaceful home was filled with the energy and joy of small children!
