As you are aware, working from home and social distancing has limited our Team and Family's face-to-face interactions. In addition to hosting Zoom meetings, another way we are working around this challenge is by sharing video messages. This week on social media, messages were sent by the following KIPP Jacksonville leaders. Click on their names below to view each one.

KIPP AT HOME WEB PAGE

KIPP Jacksonville is committed to supporting student learning through various remote learning channels during the school closure caused by the COVID-19 virus. As of today, we have successfully launched a "KIPP at Home" web page on the current KIPP Jacksonville website dedicated to achieving this promise! This hub will be updated regularly throughout the closure with materials to continue supporting the academic growth and development of our students during this time. Also, be sure to follow KIPP Jacksonville Schools on Facebook ,  Twitter , and  Instagram  for the most up-to-date news on the current closure.

VIRTUAL SPIRIT WEEK

To help connect with each other and spread some virtual fun as we engage remotely, KIPP Jacksonville hosted a virtual spirit week. Each day consisted of a different theme for staff and families to share via the Class Dojo communication mobile app and social media platforms. Thank you to all who participated!

ABOVE AND BEYOND

Ms. Kammerer, a kindergarten teacher at KIPP Jacksonville Elementary, has been going above and beyond during this time. In addition to her virtual classroom responsibilities, she is also supporting her KIPPsters - and their pets - by delivering food to those families with dogs.

2020-21 ENROLLMENT

In an effort to keep up with the demand, KIPP Jacksonville Schools continues to grow every year, opening more seats for new students. This year, nearly 1,000 applications were submitted region-wide, kindergarten through eighth grade. Since the number of applications received was greater than seats available, a lottery was held last week for the 2020-21 school year. Although we cannot provide in-person support at this time, our team is working relentlessly to increase the number of personalized phone calls to extend offers to families, as well as help them complete the enrollment process. We are excited to share that dozens of families have already fully enrolled for next year, and many others are working through the steps with the support of KIPP team members. But, it is not too late to apply! If you or anyone you know would like to submit a new student application, you may do so on our website here . 

ALUMNI SUPPORT

This week, the KIPP Through College team hosted their second webinar, “Secure the Bag: Evaluating Financial Aid Awards” to help students and families understand financial aid award letters and how to responsibly fund higher education. Alumni were provided tools to help them understand award letter language and practice reviewing them in real time. The team will be hosting another webinar for high school juniors on Thursday, April 9th at 6:00 p.m., “Managing Uncertainty: Next Steps to Prepare for Senior Year”.
