GREETINGS
With our school buildings closed for the rest of the 2019-20 school year, we started our end-of-year check out process this week. Though our leaders were preparing for this possibility, it still does not make it any easier knowing we will not enjoy end-of-year activities with our KIPPsters. This school year is ending differently for all, but know that we are in this together every step of the way. We will continue this procedure in the coming weeks, abiding by social distancing and safety guidelines throughout.

EduHam at Home
With so much uncertainty around when the FSCJ Artist Series will be able to safely present HAMILTON in a public setting in our city, they have created a digital version of the Hamilton Education Program: EduHam at Home. It is a free digital program for students and their families to explore the world of HAMILTON and America's founding era together. Recommended for - but not limited to - students from 6th to 12th grade and their families nationwide, EduHam at Home provides an American history curriculum introducing the people, events, and documents of the founding era. Together, students and their families follow in Lin-Manuel Miranda's footsteps, explore the world of HAMILTON , and create and perform their own narrative in the form of a song, rap, spoken word, or scene. Click here to access the program.
ALUMNI UPDATE
COVID-19 has certainly changed the landscape of education, and there is still uncertainty as it relates to what college enrollment and admissions processes will look like for Fall 2021. To assist our rising seniors in navigating those challenges, the KIPP Through College team has been working with students to help them both register for the June ACT and identify strong test-optional institutions that would be a good fit (in the event that college admissions testing is not available)
ABOVE AND BEYOND
KIPP Jacksonville's third grade math team has set a goal to increase student participation on Google Classroom. To build investment, the team is using ClassDojo to implement an individual point system where students can use their points to earn rewards. Students have the opportunity to earn virtual stickers, assignment passes, and (an all-time favorite) the opportunity to eat lunch with a teacher on Zoom! Students have been excited to redeem their points, and teachers have seen a great increase in student engagement as a result! Way to go third grade!
