GREETINGS
This week, schools across the country celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week. It may have looked a little different this year given the current climate, but throughout the week, we have been honoring our hardworking teachers who go above and beyond for our KIPPsters every single day. Thank you to our friends at Bono's Pit Bar-B-Q for helping us celebrate with delicious catered meals for our teachers!

UPDATES
TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK
Our KIPP Jacksonville teachers are the backbone of our work. They put in countless hours and lead with heart, always keeping KIPPsters as the priority. In honor of their transformative work, here is a video capturing a few memories and messages from some of our KIPPsters.

“As I teach, I project the condition of my soul onto my students, my subject, and our way of being together.” - Parker Palmer
THANK YOU, PARENTS!
We also want to take this opportunity to recognize our incredible KIPP Jacksonville parents who have been true warriors and partners with us throughout our virtual KIPP At Home programming. This year, our parents have had to tackle a new set of challenges that are unprecedented in our lifetimes. We have been humbled by how they have stepped up to the plate, tackling every aspect of this “new normal” with immense dedication and creativity. You have suddenly been thrust into the new role of co-teachers, and we thank you for your collaboration!
COLLEGE SIGNING DAY
May 1st is a day that our KIPP Through College team looks forward to all year. With lots of excitement, a slight dose of insomnia, and a little bit of nervous energy, the KTC team works toward ensuring KIPP Jacksonville alumni seniors have viable post-secondary plans that under normal circumstances, they would be announcing in our gym in front of staff, our middle school students, their families, and valued supporters from our community. Due to COVID-19, we were unable to celebrate our seniors in person at our annual College Signing Day ceremony. In lieu of that gathering, we are celebrating seniors on our social media pages throughout the month of May. Be sure to follow along as we honor the Class of 2020!
ABOVE AND BEYOND
Our teachers have been going Above and Beyond creating engaging videos for students to learn new concepts and skills. Kindergarten teacher Ms. Thrasher has made math come to life for her KIPPsters by dressing up as a detective in search of groups of ten objects. What a way to bring JOY and get KIPPsters excited about learning during KIPP At Home! Here’s a link to her full video for you to check out!
DISTANCE LEARNING TIPS
As we navigate the new normal of distance learning at home, keeping students engaged has become even more challenging. Although the environment our students are used to learning in has shifted, it’s important to keep students enthusiastic and energized about learning. Check out these 5 tips KIPP educators in our network shared to keep your student motivated while learning at home.
