Philanthropy Collective:

Agency of the Month

GLM House Inc was honored as the "Agency of the Month" hosted at the University Club on February 28th.

"The Philanthropy Collective was deeply honored and proud to host our Agency of the Month event, celebrating the incredible work of GLM House Inc. This event was more than just a gathering; it was a powerful reminder of the transformative impact that safe housing and compassionate support can have on individuals experiencing homelessness.

Throughout the event, we heard heartfelt and inspiring stories from individuals who, at one point, had no place to call home. Thanks to the dedication and support of GLM House, they were able to find stable housing, regain control of their lives, and begin a new chapter filled with hope and opportunity. These stories highlighted the vital role that organizations like GLM House play in breaking cycles of homelessness and providing a pathway toward independence and stability.

We extend our deepest gratitude to GLM House Inc for their unwavering commitment to serving the unhoused community. Their work not only provides shelter but also offers individuals a safe and supportive space to heal, grow, and rebuild their futures."

"I am thrilled to be here and offer my compassion. As someone with experience with mental health and substance use, I can provide an empathetic ear."

-Karen Edmonds Fontenette

Meet Our Operations Manager

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Karen Edmonds Fontenette has officially joined the GLM House family as our Operations Manager! With her remarkable background as a Registered Nurse and a proven track record of transforming nonprofit operations, Karen is a perfect fit for our mission to empower vulnerable communities. Her incredible collaboration and coordination skills have previously turned a small community pantry into multiple warehouses, creating jobs for 23 staff members and feeding an astounding 1,000 children every single day! And if that wasn't enough, we're over the moon to celebrate Karen’s recent achievement of becoming a Certified Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist! Her expertise will undoubtedly enhance our holistic support services and promote well-being in the San Diego area. Together, with Karen on board, we’re set to drive social change and foster growth in our community like never before!

Let’s get this journey started! 🎉
