Wisdom From The Herd

The Mother of All Gifts

This past Sunday was Mother’s Day. I sent out well wishes - and prayers - to those I know and those I may never meet… to anyone who expresses “mother” energy in the world.

To mothers of children.

To those who nurture other people’s children.

To those whose children live on the other side of the veil.

To caregivers of pets, clients, patients, staff, friends, and family.

If we look within ourselves, we can all find that loving, nurturing “mother” energy at work.

This Mother’s Day, I attended the Celebration of Life for a former colleague - a woman who truly lived a life well lived. She was an advocate for her daughter, a voice for seniors, a leader in care and awareness groups, a supporter of nature and all creation, and an embracer of all things spiritual.

Kirsten embodied what it means to give fully of oneself.

I was honored to be there - to marvel at her accomplishments, to witness and hold space for the grief felt throughout her community, and to reconnect with old colleagues from years ago when we worked side by side on projects such as the Senior Center Expansion Project, the Senior Center Accreditation Process, the Elder Care Network, Professionals for Seniors, and Senior Law Day.

I fondly remembered the seminars we gave together for seniors about making empowered life choices.

This woman was a true builder of community… and of people.

And I left feeling re-inspired to do the same.

Perhaps the “mother of all gifts” is simply this: LOVE.

We all carry it within us.

Let’s spread it around.

• Gain clarity, insight, and peace

• Release the emotional charge of past experiences

• Increase awareness and reconnect with your body’s wisdom

Equusology

Winter is cold, too cold for showing and trail rides. This is the perfect time to deepen your relationship with your horse, and get ready for next season.

Equusology answers the questions horse people often ask:

• What does my horse think of me?

• How does my horse process the world?

• How do I influence my horse, and how can we understand each other better?

• How can I strengthen our bond?

If you want to invest in something meaningful this winter—and prepare for spring, summer, or fall riding—Equusology is the place to start.

Created by Melisa Pearce of Touched by a Horse and Carolyn Fitzpatrick, both accomplished Gestaltists and horsewomen.

• 4‑week class on Zoom

Private / Group Sessions

Sessions are held with horses at the barn weather permitting.

Indoor or Zoom sessions available during frigid winter temperatures.

COLLECTION

written by Dawn Mathis

There is a term in the horse world that describes a horse that is balanced, gathered, and moving with powerful intention. You see it in the moments before a horse clears an obstacle… or bursts from the gate in pursuit of a steer. There is energy, focus, strength, and readiness.

It is called collection.

But collection is more than motion - it is preparation. It is the gathering of resources, strength, awareness, and purpose before the leap forward.

And isn’t that true for us as well?

Before any great achievement… before pursuing a dream, stepping into a new vision, or accomplishing an athletic or personal feat… there is a season of collection.

We gather knowledge.

We gather courage.

We gather support.

We gather clarity.

We gather ourselves.

Collection is not standing still. It is intentional alignment.

It is the culmination of parts and pieces coming together in service of something greater—the BIGGER PICTURE.

So if you find yourself in a season of gathering, preparing, or quietly strengthening… trust it.

You may simply be in collection, preparing for your next powerful leap forward.
